Ex-President + Ex-CIA Director + Bush [BGHW968] accused of war crimes -by Philip Willan (Constable, London,00 000.), Bush [BGHW948] is alleged to had a close relationship with Gelli, Lucio , the infamous head of the P2 masonic lodge. ... URL:

11.Sep.2001-15.Dec.2004 All these testimonies + observations correspond to the effects of an AGM[air to ground missile]-86C of the third (most recent) generation of CALCM [conventional air launched cruise missile -- see picture at: equipped with depleted uranium warheads + guided by GPS [global positioning system].
This type of missile, seen from the side, would easily remind one of a small civilian airplane, but it is not a plane.

It produces a shrill whistle comparable to that of a fighter-bomber, can be guided with enough accuracy to be directed through a window, can pierce the most resistant armor +

can set off a fire - independent of its piercing effect - that will generate heat of over 2,000 ° Celsius. URL:
15.Dec.2004 An air traffic controller from Washington has testified seeing on radar an object flying at about 800 kilometers per hour, moving initially toward the White House,

then turning sharply toward the Pentagon, where it seemed to crash.

The air traffic controller has testified that the characteristics of the flight were such that it could only have been a military projectile.
Several hundred witnesses have claimed that they head "a shrill noise like the noise of a fighter-bomber", but nothing like the noise of a civilian aircraft.
15.Dec.2004 Apparently without the least fear of laying itself open to ridicule, USA Defense Department {CHENEY+WOLFOWITZ+,+,+,de-claired that the jet engines, made out of tempered steel, had disintegrated under the shock of the impact - without damaging the façade. The aluminum of the fuselage is claimed to have combusted at more than 2,500° Celsius within the building + to have been transformed into gas,

but the bodies of the passengers which it contained were so little burned that they were

later identified from their finger prints.
Responding to journalists during a press conference at the Pentagon, the fire chief claimed that "no voluminous debris from the aircraft" had remained, "nor any piece of the fuselage, nor anything of that sort".

He declared that neither he nor his men knew what had become of the aircraft.
Close examination of the official photographs of the scene of the attack, taken + published by the Defense Department, shows that no part of the Pentagon bears any mark of an impact that could be attributed to the crash of a Boeing 757.
One must acknowledged the evidence: it is impossible that the attack against the Pentagon on 11.Sep.2001 killing 125 persons, was carried out by a jet airliner.
The scene of the attack was thoroughly disturbed on the following day by the immediate launch of new construction work, with the result that many of the elements necessary to reconstruct what had happened are missing. The elements that do remain, however, converge in a single hypothesis that it is not possible to prove with certainty. URL:

15.Dec.2004 "I know the fog of war exists," Mr. Stevens said, adding that it could be lifted. "We envision a world where you don't have any more fratricide," no more friendly fire, he said.

15.Dec.2004 What he sees is a far grander vision. Lockheed, he said, is promising to transform the very nature of NATURE war.

00.000.19---00.000.2--- -During- their c old war, when Lockheed + its component parts built an vampire of nuclear weapons, Mr. Stevens said, the watchword was: "Be more fearful. 'Deterrence,' isn't that Latin? 'Deterrere.'

Induce fear. Terrorize."
Today, Lockheed is building weapons so smart that they can change the world by virtue of their precision, he said;

they aim to wage war without the death of innocents, without weapons misfiring, without fatal miscalculation. URL:
15.Dec.2004 Mr. Trice, Lockheed's senior vice president for business development, says the company cleaned up its act at home and overseas since the last of the series of major mergers + acquisitions that gave the corporation its present shape in March 1995. "You simply have to look people in the eye and say 'we don't do business that way,' " he said.
There really is no need to do business that way any more - not in a world where so much of Lockheed's wealth flows directly from the Treasury, where competition for foreign markets is both controlled and subsidized by the White House and Congress + where Lockheed's influence runs so deep. Men who have worked, lobbied and lawyered for Lockheed hold the posts of secretary of the Navy, secretary of transportation, director of the national nuclear weapons complex and director of the national spy satellite agency. The list also includes Stephen J. Hadley, who has been named the next national security adviser to the president, succeeding Condoleezza Rice.
Former Lockheed executives serve on the Defense Policy Board, the Defense Science Board and the Homeland Security Advisory Council, which help make military and intelligence policy and pick weapons for future battles. Lockheed's board includes E. C. Aldridge Jr., who, as the Pentagon's chief weapons buyer, gave the go-ahead to build the F-22. URL:
15.Dec.2004 In the United States, where national security spending now surpasses $500 billion a year, Lockheed's dominance is growing.

Its own executives say the concentration of power among military contractors is more intense than in any other sector of business outside banking.

Three or four major companies - Lockheed, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman and arguably Boeing - rule the industry.

They often work like general contractors building customized houses, farming out the painting, the floors and the cabinets to smaller subcontractors and taking their own share of the money.

15.Dec.2004 Lockheed is also the strongest corporate force driving the Pentagon's plans for "net-centric warfare": the big idea of fusing military, intelligence and weapons programs through a new military Internet, called the Global Information Grid, to give USA soldiers throughout the world an instant picture of the battlefield around them.

"We want to know what's going on anytime, anyplace on the planet," said Lorraine M. Martin, vice president + deputy of the company's Joint Command + Control + Communications Systems division.
15.Dec.2004 Are there too few soldiers to secure the farthest reaches of Iraq? Lockheed is creating robot soldiers and neural software - "intelligent agents" - to do their work. "We've now created policy options where you can elect to put a human in or you can elect to put an intelligent agent in place," Mr. Stevens said.
Are thousands of CIA and Pentagon analysts drowning under a flood of data, incapable of seeing patterns? Lockheed's "intelligence information factory" will do their thinking for them. Mining and sifting categories of facts - for example, linking an adversary's movements and telephone calls - would "offload the mental work by making connections," said Stanton D. Sloane, executive vice president for integrated systems and solutions at Lockheed
15.Dec.2004 Obviously, war and crisis have been good for business.

The Pentagon's budget for buying new weapons rose by about a third over the last three years, to $81 billion in fiscal 2004, up from $60 billion in 2001.

Lockheed's sales also rose by about a third, to nearly $32 billion in the 2003 calendar year, from $24 billion in 2001.

It was the No. 1 recipient of Pentagon primary contracts, with $21.9 billion in fiscal 2003. Boeing had $17.3 billion, Northrop Grumman had $11.1 billion and General Dynamics had $8.2 billion.
LOCKHEED also has many tens of billions of dollars in future orders on its books. The company's stock has tripled in the last four years, to just under $60.
"It used to be just an airplane company," said John Pike, a longtime military analyst and director of, a research organization in Alexandria, Va.

"Now it's a warfare company. It's an integrated solution provider. It's a one-stop shop. Anything you need to kill the enemy, they will sell you."
As its influence grows, Lockheed is not just seeking to solve the problems of national security. It is framing the questions as well:
28.Nov.2004 "
New York Times" -- Over the last decade, Lockheed, the nation's largest military contractor, has built a formidable information-technology empire that now stretches from the Pentagon to the post office.

It sorts your mail and totals your taxes. It cuts Social Security checks and counts the United States census.

It runs space flights and monitors air traffic. To make all that happen, Lockheed writes more computer code than Microsoft.
Of course, Lockheed, based in Bethesda, Md., is best known for its weapons, which are the heart of America's arsenal.

It builds most of the nation's warplanes. It creates rockets for nuclear missiles, sensors for spy satellites + scores of other military and intelligence systems.

The Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency might have difficulty functioning without the contractor's expertise.
But in the post-9/11 world, Lockheed has become more than just the biggest corporate cog in what Dwight D. Eisenhower called the military-industrial complex.

It is increasingly putting its stamp on the nation's military policies, too.

15.Dec.2004 Concern over Saddam aides' trials : Many international legal experts are concerned that, however serious the charges against them, the conditions have not been created to enable these people to have anything resembling a fair trial.

15.Dec.2004 Allawi accused of rushing trials for Saddam's aides: War crimes trials against senior lieutenants of Saddam Hussein will start in Baghdad next week. 15.Dec.2004 Cloud Over the Constitution: The problem with Gonzales is that he has been deeply involved in developing some of the most sweeping claims of near-dictatorial presidential power in our nation's history. These claims put President George W. Bush literally above the law, allowing him to imprison and even (at least in theory) torture anyone in the world, at any time

23.Jun.2004 Harvard Law's Impeachment Letter Talk about consensus: it's no small feat to get 450 academics to agree on anything, let alone sign their names to it.

But that's exactly what's happened. Led by professors from Harvard Law School, more than 450 scholars in law, international relations + public policy have signed a letter calling for Congress to assess the executive branch's accountability—and, if appropriate, proceed with removal or impeachment of top officials.

"We write to register our objection to the systematic violation of human rights practiced or permitted by authorities of the United States within occupied Iraq during recent months," the letter reads.

The signatories represent 110 institutions in 40 different states. READ THE LETTER Wednesday

14.Jun.2004 Senate Report on Intelligence As Ray McGovern wrote  on on Monday, this report proves that not only was intelligence skewed—it was outright fabricated.

But in evaluating the report, it's important to remember that the committee examined only how intelligence was gathered, not the more politically explosive question of how the Bush administration used the information.

That second phase of the inquiry is conveniently scheduled to be completed after the 02.Nov.2004 election. SEE THE REPORT

00.May 2004 /nervous_about_nukes.php.htmNervous About Nukes USA Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration announced that it would upgrade security at the Los Alamos Laboratory, including moving nuclear materials away from the vulnerable area TA-18—which had failed several security tests .

But since then, the NNSA has been dragging its feet—even though the University of California, which manages the lab, has proposed completing the nuclear move immediately.

15.Dec.2004 The Project on Government Oversight has called NNSA's bluff in a letter to Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham, citing an e-mail from an NNSA official saying that the removal process could stretch to 2015 .

Check out the letter where POGO challenges Abraham to finish the nuclear material move within the year. GO TO THE DOCUMENT

14.Sep.2004 Secrecy in the Bush Administration

15.Dec.2004 Rep. Henry A. Waxman has released a comprehensive examination of secrecy in the Bush Administration.

The report analyzes how the Administration has implemented each of our nation’s major open government laws.

It finds that there has been a consistent pattern in the Administration’s actions:

laws that are designed to promote public access to information have been undermined, while laws that authorize the government to withhold information or to operate in secret have repeatedly been expanded.

The cumulative result is an unprecedented assault on the principle of open government. Extended Overview »

Thank you so much!!!!
Each encouraging word is like a block of strength right now. Last night I was returning from Columbus and was scared out of my mind.

First I’ve been getting calls from a man that has been able to tell me each and every place I’ve been or roads I’ve been traveling on (a group of 3 other women heard this while driving me to meet Jesse Jackson + Cliff Arnebeck last night, having the call on speaker).

Then while driving back I was ran off the road by two dark blue Suburbans(?), bigger than 4 runners anyway, with dark tinted windows.

They came up behind me with their brights on and then one came to the side of me and ran me into the ditch off I-70.

I saw as they sped away that one had a Maryland license plate, but in the heat of it all I couldn’t get the plate number or even see the plate of the other one.

It’s becoming apparent to me that someone is not liking what I’m doing. So thank you much cause I truly need the encouraging words.

15.Dec.2004 I've kinda always felt that the miltary/industial complex is, in fact, the government.

15.Dec.2004 Dr. Henry Kissinger, who wrote: “Depopulation should be the highest priority of U.S. foreign policy towards the Third World.”
Research on population control, preventing future births, is now being carried out secretly by biotech companies. Dr. Ignacio Chapela, a University of California microbiologist, discovered that wild corn in remote parts of Mexico is contaminated with lab altered DNA. That discovery made him a threat to the biotech industry.
Chapela was denied tenure at UC Berkeley when he reported this to the scientific community, despite the embarrassing discovery that UC Chancellor Berdahl, who was denying him tenure, was getting large cash payments - $40,000 per year - from the LAM Research Corp. in Plano, Texas.
Berdahl served as president of Texas A&M University before coming to Berkeley. During a presentation about his case, Chapela revealed that a spermicidal corn developed by a U.S. company is now being tested in Mexico. Males who unknowingly eat the corn produce non-viable sperm and are unable to reproduce.
Depopulation, also known as eugenics, is quite another thing and was proposed under the Nazis during World War II.

It is the deliberate killing off of large segments of living populations and was proposed for Third World countries under President Carter’s administration by the National Security Council’s Ad Hoc Group on Population Policy.
15.Dec.2004 As Henry Kissinger said, “Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy.”

00.000.1991 -in- beginning with former President George Bush -The health impact of exposure to depleted uranium, known as Gulf War Syndrome, has been covered up under three presidents.

Establishment doctors and scientists helped with the cover-up.
Dr. Joyce Lashof, appointed by President Clinton as chair of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans’ Illnesses (1995-1997),is a medical doctor + former dean of the School of Public Health at UC Berkeley

As a member of the faculty at the university that has managed the nuclear weapons labs for 61 years for the U.S. goverment, she had access to the best information on the health effects of depleted uranium.

15.Dec.2004 Jesus said, "Those who live by the sword, will die by the sword." This dictum spares none of the sword wielders, not even us Americans.

Jesus also said, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy." Maybe mercy would be a commendable commitment for us all as we celebrate Christ's birthday this year.
15.Dec.2004 ....
to uphold the tenets of the Prince of Peace?
Some have said that you can determine your priorities by looking at your checkbook ledger.

So let's look at a few of the stubs in our nation's 2002 checkbook courtesy of the Office of Management and Budget.
. Military spending: $319 billion
. Education: $77 billion
. Transportation: $55 billion
. Environment: $27 billion
. HIV/AIDS: $14.7 billion
. Peace Corps: $277 million
It's projected that total military spending from 2000 through the end of 2008 will amount to $3.2 trillion.

A trillion here, a trillion there. Pretty soon we're talking about real money, even by government standards.
As much as we talk of "peace on earth," our actions make our words ring hollow.

McCain Has 'No Confidence' in Rumsfeld: U.S. Sen. John McCain said Monday that he has "no confidence" in Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, citing Rumsfeld's handling of the war in Iraq and the failure to send more troops.

15.Dec.2004 Rumsfeld's fig leaf falling: The fig leaves are tumbling from the cover story Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld gave to a soldier's query on Wednesday about the lack of armored vehicles available in Iraq.

15.Dec.2004 Al-Sadr wants US withdrawal guarantee: An influential Iraqi Shia Muslim leader has tied his participation in the country's 30 January elections to the departure of foreign forces, dominated by more than 140,000 US troops.

15.Dec.2004 Pentagon Weighs Use of Deception in a Broad Arena: Such missions, if approved, could take the deceptive techniques endorsed for use on the battlefield to confuse an adversary and adopt them for covert propaganda campaigns aimed at neutral and even allied nations.

15.Dec.2004 American Soldiers Getting The Shaft: The wholesale makeover of the returning Bush administration may find the public in its usual slumber and general torpor over governmental news, but Dubya took two big news hits over the weekend that -- as they say in the trade -- have "legs."

15.Dec.2004 Scott Ritter: The risks of the al-Zarqawi myth: A single Jordanian male is suddenly running an organisation that operates in sophisticated cells throughout Iraq. No one man could logically accomplish this. But there is an organisation that can - the Mukhabarat (intelligence) of Saddam Hussein.

15.Dec.2004 Dear Sir/Madam,

Vice-President Gore had the gumption to un-concede after much less evidence of farud that we have seen in both Ohio + Florida (not to mention Arizona, Indiana and at least half a dozen other states).

This time the Bush administration went way too far. As I am sure you are aware, they use the Nazi playbook + what did their esteemed leader teach the world?

The biiger the lie, the more the people will believe it. The vote was padded for Bush even in Republican strongholds, because with such a “healthy majority” we all look like we need tin foil hats!

What is happening in this counrty is unbelievable. DFo you not realize that it doesn’t matter if you are black, white or Hispanic - we are being discriminated against for being Democrats + I can give you specific examples if need be. None of us are safe, + we cannot allow for this to continue, this is no longer a Democracy + I am really scared.

We ALL are.

If we allow our black brethren in Ohio + Florida down, + our Hispanic sisters + brothers in Florida + Arizona down this time, then next time - when it’s the rest of us, who will stand up for us. URL:

Ohio recount…dowe even need it?

Dear ScarlettBlue, Thank you for your feedback. It’s only with your support that we are able to embark on keeping up the fight as we build for the future.

In addition to our strong commitment to the recount in Washington State, the Democratic Party has announced our full support of the recount in Ohio +

empowered the Ohio Democratic Party to represent us as our official observer during the recount.

We will make sure that every vote in Ohio is counted.

After consulting with our Voting Rights Institute staff, Voting Protection Coordinators, Ohio legal team, Party activists, supporters, elected officials, and others + after reviewing available information, the Democratic National Committee is conducting a thorough investigation of key election issues arising from the conduct of the 2004 general election in Ohio.

This investigation will address the legitimate questions and concerns that have been raised in Ohio and will develop factual information that will be critically important in crafting further necessary election reforms.

As you know, we do not expect either the recount or our investigation in Ohio to overturn the results of this election.

But both are vital to protecting every American’s voting rights in future elections. We will keep you updated with the progress of the investigative study as it progresses.

15.Dec.2004 Why are none of the mainstream news outlets covering anomalies in the 2004 election?

Maybe because media owners benefit from not questioning the election.

With bush holding court, Big Fat Media gets fatter by keeping michael powell who gives away whatever is left of the public good in media regulation to the owners.

According to the Center for Public Integrity, Big Media lobbied much more than Big Oil in the last few years.

And that is seriously interesting because Big Fat Media also pockets the most in media advertising from funds all the campaigns raise.

Big Fat Media turns around and puts a chunk of the profits they rake from the elections into lobbying.

What Big Fat Media Wants, Big Fat Media gets from this government.

When everything’s going Big Fat Media’s way, why change anything?

Millionaire pundits aren’t hurting + their votes were counted.

Why should they care about the votes of working people, particularly black voters, whose votes weren’t counted?

Michael Powell is golden to millionaire pundits and their well-fed bosses. What’s their motive to change the status quo?
The Center for Public Integrity released a report today finding that the communications industry – broadcast, cable, telecom + satellite – has spent nearly $1.1 billion on lobbying since 1998.

To put the number in perspective, the oil and gas industries spent $396 million on lobbying in the same period. (Center for Public Integrity – tip from Benton Foundation) by skywriter

15.Dec.2004 In summary, it is my professional opinion that Kerry [KFJ966]'s margins of victory were wrongly reduced by 22,000 votes in Cleveland,

by 17,000 votes in Columbus + by as many as 7,000 votes in Toledo.

It is my further professional opinion that Kerry [KFJ966]'s margins of defeat in Warren + Butler + Clermont counties were inflated by as many as 37,000 votes in the aggregate, +

in Miami County by as many as 6,000 votes.

13.Dec.2004 There are still 92,672 uncounted regular ballots that, based upon the analysis set forth above of the election results from Dayton + Cincinnati, may be expected to break for Kerry [KFJ966]by an overwhelming margin.

+ there are 14,441 uncounted provisional ballots.

We have every right to ask why turnout was lower in Kerry-country than in Bush-land.

Given the impossibly long lines in Kerry [KFJ966]-country -- and the fact that people who were still in line after midnight were told to go home -- I don't see how the polling places could have physically accommodated a higher number of people.
The Boston Globe , it has been
reported, will do a piece on the locked-out recounters in Greene County. As you know, the recounters were apparently the only ones kept from the data.
John Conyers, bless his heart, recently put it: "We have now repeatedly seen election officials obstruct and stonewall this search for the truth. I am beginning to wonder what it is they are trying to hide."
Robert Parry , in
an interview here (scroll down), discusses the history of election-year Republican dirty tricks.
15.Dec.2004 Richard Hayes Phillips . In the past we have discussed the opinions of this PhD from the University of Oregon. Yes, his doctorate was in geology, but he is well-versed in statistics. Now he has published an
affidavit which reveals that the Ohio vote numbers do not withstand scrutiny.

15.Dec.2004 The recount lockdown in Greene County : The folks involved with the recount -- and with keeping an eye on the election offices -- are dog tired. Every concerned citizen owes those fighters for democracy an expression of gratitude.
You will recall that the recount was stopped + that the ballots were yanked out of the hands of recounters. Sealed and locked boxes of optical scan ballots were placed inside the election offices --which were then left unlocked. Someone entered overnight, as evidenced by a lit lamp.
My source tells me that one big worry now is that the Republican election machinery deliberately left the door open. Why? Not to let Ken's minions sneak in -- after all, they would have a key to the door. Rather, the intention may have been to lay the groundwork for the claim that Democrats tampered with those ballots!
If the Republican propagandists do try to push that idea, remember: Those ballots were kept in locked, sealed boxes. Could someone from Ken Blackwell's office open up those boxes, stuff them with Bush ballots + then re-lock and re-seal them? Of course. But could the recounters manage a similar trick? Hardly.
Where would they get the keys and the seal?
The Boston Globe was supposed to report on this story today. They didn't. (However, they did have room for an in-depth look at the new Kevin Spacey movie.)
Actually, the Globe published
an AP story which covered the demonstrations -- though not the data about the recount lockdown. Yet according to William Rivers Pitt, the Globe had its own reporters on the scene. Why did they rely on the AP, and why did both news outlets ignore the story of Blackwell's criminality? Odd!
If you want to read a good article about Ken Blackwell's blatant violation of the law,
go here.
Absentee ballots in Ohio . Did you know that more absentee ballots were counted than were issued? Check out the data
15.Dec.2004 Precinct 440, Greene county, Ohio : The information I posted yesterday concerning the strange doings in this largely African-American community was incorrect. I spoke to someone "on the ground" in Ohio, and got the straight skinny.
This precinct serves a college with a primarily black student body. 1336 people tried to register, but only 593 people were allowed to cast ballots -- a "turnout" of 44.39%. The reason? The election officials would not accept ballots from students living on campus because they all had the same street address!
Just another one of those "whoopsie-daisy" accidents that just happened to disenfranchise blacks...
You will recall yesterday's study by Richard Hayes Phillips, which proves that turnout numbers are mysteriously low in pro-Democratic areas of Ohio -- despite the long lines of heroic voters who stood in cold weather until after midnight.
15.Dec.2004 If the mainstream media somehow manages to ignore this flurry of activity, they could ignore a nuclear war.
Dec.2004 URL:
13.Dec.2004 In a letter to Ohio's Governor, Speaker of the House and President of the Senate, John Conyers and others have pleaded for the vote of the electors be rescinded or treated as provisional.

The argument comes down to Blackwell's disingenuous tardiness in certifying the election results; although he had promised to complete his count within ten days, he took over a month, leaving no time for the recount effort.

In essence, the Secretary of State has chosen Ohio's electors, a job which the Constitution assigns to the legislature of the state.
The Clinton Curtis story has received a respectful hearing in the cyber-pages of
Even as I write these words, Curits is testifying before the Conyers committee. (Thanks as always to
Brad Friedman.)
15.Dec.2004 In one exit poll affidavit, Jonathan David Simon, an expert witness, notes that at 12:53 a.m. the exit polls altered the projected winner – even though the same number of votes had been cast. "Although each update reports the same number of respondents (872), the reported results differ significantly, with the latter (12:53 a.m.) exit poll results apparently having been brought into congruence with the tabulated vote results." In other words, the exit polls were made to conform to a political decision to declare Bush the victor.
Another exit poll affidavit, filed by Ron Paul Baiman, an economist and statistician at the University of Illinois and University of Chicago, said the swing in national exit poll results, recorded at 12:33 a.m., when Kerry [KFJ966] was winning with 50.8 % of the vote, to Bush winning with 51.2 %, was, "in lay terms, impossible."
"This is more than a 100 % swing in the other direction of the exit poll margin, he said. "There is less than a one in 25,000,000 (1/25,507,308) chance of this occurring."
15.Dec.2004 A representative from Triad Systems came into this county's BOE offices unannounced on this Friday. He said he was just stopping by to see if they had any questions about the upcoming recount. He then headed into the back room where the Triad ( unclear ) that is, the machine that COUNTS the ballots, is kept.
The Triad representative then told them that there was a problem with the system, that the system had a bad batttery and had quote "lost all it's data" endquote
He then took the computer apart and started swapping parts in and out of it and in another spare (tower PC?) in the room...
...he finally reassembled everything and said that it was working, but that not to turn it off.
He then asked which precincts would be counted in the 3% recount test + the ones which had been selected, as if it had the right number of votes, was relayed to him + he did something else to the tabulator. This behavior will strike many as suspicious, to say the least.
The best coverage of the Conyers hearings can be found
15.Dec.2004 Tampering. Meanwhile, in what may be the most important development of this remarkable day, Libertarian candidate David Cobb says the
Triad company has tampered with central tabulating system in Ohio. He says he has an eyewitness whose name cannot now be revealed. Here is a partial rushed transcript of Cobb's statement before Conyers' hearings:
15.Dec.2004 Just before the electors were to cast votes, Cliff Arnebeck of the Alliance for Democracy filed his
suit with the intention of having the Ohio Supreme Court review the state's presidential vote. According to the news accounts, Arnebeck -- and you and I -- are now "dissidents."
The dissidents claim there were disparities in vote totals for Democrats, too few voting machines in Democrat-leaning precincts, organized campaigns directing voters to the wrong polling place and confusion over the counting of provisional ballots by voters whose names did not appear in the records at polling places.
15.Dec.2004 Finally : People for the American Way has produced a long, valuable document on voter disenfrachisement in 2004. The title: "
Shattering the Myth." I don't think anyone can read ten consecutive pages of this piece without concluding that the Republicans made a systemic effort to keep the "wrong" people away from the ballot box.
15.Dec.2004 Think of Ollie North testifying during Iran-contra. Think of the HSCA, or the MKULTRA hearings chaired by Kennedy and Inouye. Think of the 9/11 investigations.
Conyers seems to be accomplishing the nearly-impossible: He is spearheading a congressional investigation into covert operations that actually uncovers important material. Perhaps the lack of media coverage aided his effort -- by flying under the radar, he avoided the enemy's artillery. (The counter-attack has finally started: Paul Weyrich published a piece recently damning Conyers as a "hard leftist.")
15.Dec.2004 What would it take to win?
Tom Flocco has a long report on the Conyers hearings. Flocco (predictably) scores Kerry [KFJ966], but he also notes the constitutional measure by which a state's electors can be challenge: One House member and one Senator must object. Last time, no senator would raise his voice. Now, one cannot help but wonder if Kerry [KFJ966]himself will do the honors. If he does -- and he would do so at great political risk -- both Houses would have to vote on whether to accept the state's electors.
Logic tells us that the Republicans would carry the day in such a vote. The outcome would be in doubt only if America were shocked by clear, unmistakable and well-publicized evidence of vote fraud. Perhaps nothing short of an on-the-record confession from a conspirator would suffice. (Think McCord in Watergate.) If we don't get a confession, recordings of an incriminating telephone conversation might do the trick. (Think Lewinski, or the Enron conspiracy to defraud California.)
Democracy depends on such a breakthrough.
15.Dec.2004 This disturbing event, coming on top of the Green County lockdown, provides obious evidence of election fraud. Why try to mislead the recounters if the original vote was clean?
The best report on the committee is still the one by Bob Fritakis, Steve Rosenfeld and Harvey Wasserman.
15.Dec.2004 For a full transcript of David Cobb's address,
go here. (We offered a partial transcript yesterday.) Cobb describes how a tech used an apparent ruse to get access to the voting tabulation machine stored within the Columbus Board of Elections -- before the recount could take place. This nameless tech said that the system had a "bad battery" and had "lost all its data."
15.Dec.2004 Washington Post Joins the Dissident Set! And Drudge!
And Fox News!
Pinch me! Am I dreamin'?!
As I hit the "publish button" on the previous piece about The New York Times filing a serious report about election recount problems in Ohio, I was notified that tomorrow's Washinton Post features
a full report on scads of reported problems in Ohio! (Just six weeks late + a day after the Electoral College cast it votes, but better late than never I guess!) Here's the MSNBC reprint for those not registered with WaPo .
To make matters even more incredible, the story is linked on Drudge ! What the...?
But wait, that's not all! I heard that Cliff Arnebeck, the attorney who filed a brief with the Ohio Supreme Court to set aside the states election results due to irregularities and fraud, was on -- get this -- Hannity & Colmes tonight! (Hi, Alan! Long time no email!)
What the hell is this world coming to?!...Its senses?!

In Ohio on election day, Republicans voted quickly, Democrats waited for up to ten hours in the rain.

Cleveland had huge unexplained votes for little known candidates. In New Mexico thousands of Hispanic provisional ballots were disallowed. These are crimes against democracy. We must recount. Click for More Info!... ...* THEY WILL PAY FOR IT !!

Many American intelligence officials have been skeptical of the effort, though, noting that the Pakistanis often alerted tribal leaders to raids beforehand and mostly only snared foot soldiers. To rout Al Qaeda and find Mr. bin Laden is going to require a much more sustained campaign by the United States and Pakistan, intelligence officials from those countries say. The United States is spending $4.5 million to help build roads, wells and schools in the tribal areas, an amount dwarfed by the $18 billion the United States is spending on the reconstruction of Iraq. Pakistani officials and others say economic development, locally elected government and full integration of the tribal areas into Pakistan are the only way to eradicate militancy from the isolated area.
"To really neutralize and eliminate them, it will have to be a lot more effort," said Talat Masood, an Islamabad political analyst and former general. "They are still a very potent force."
The foreign militants are flush with cash, use a highly sophisticated code when communicating, travel in small groups at night, are disciplined and have access to laptop computers, Pakistani military officials say. The network has even sent e-mail messages, letters and DVD's to Pakistani soldiers fighting in the tribal areas urging them not to kill their fellow Muslims on behalf of America, according to Western diplomats.
A Pre-Election Warning
The CIA has intermittently received information about Mr. bin Laden's movements along the Pakistani frontier, but it has always come too late to act against him, officials said. "There is no credible information that he has ever left the border region" since Tora Bora, one American analyst said.
By spring 2002, South Waziristan had become "the hub of Al Qaeda operations in the whole world," one senior Pakistani official said. Local religious leaders offered the militants houses, while poor tribesmen collected handsome rents on their homes.
They soon established a highly effective security system. A network of tribesmen augmented by radios and satellite phones acted as lookouts and notified them whenever more than one vehicle left a new Pakistani army base in Wana. "They could get warnings," said a senior Pakistani official.
Some American intelligence officials say that the war in Iraq provided a powerful new recruiting tool for Al Qaeda. The conflict has diverted resources - CIA paramilitary personnel and pilotless Predator surveillance aircraft - from Afghanistan to Iraq in 2002, several current and former intelligence and administration officials said. They contend the war in Iraq weakened the focus of the United States, giving Al Qaeda time to regroup. Pakistan has been a sanctuary for some Qaeda figures since soon after the American-led invasion of Afghanistan. When the Taliban government fell in the winter of 2001, some Qaeda leaders went west to Iran, but a large group of Qaeda members, including many of Mr. bin Laden's lieutenants, went south to Pakistan, intelligence officials say.
Aside from tribal members, the militants may be getting help from some officers in Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence, the country's powerful intelligence agency. The agency was the hidden power behind the Taliban's rise to power in Afghanistan and was close to Al Qaeda. Pakistani civilian security and police officials complained in the past that intelligence agency personnel have sometimes interfered with their efforts to arrest Qaeda members.
Pakistani officials warn that suspicion of the United States prevents a significant American presence. Since the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, many Pakistanis fear that the United States will bomb Iran to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons, and that Pakistan will be next.
Local residents have said that they were caught between the army and the militants. Nisar Wazir, 56, a teacher in Wana, a town in South Waziristan, said in a telephone interview that the American and Pakistan governments had neglected the tribal areas after supporting militants there in the 1980's anti-Soviet jihad. Asked if Mr. bin Laden was hiding in the tribal areas, Mr. Wazir responded angrily. "America brought Osama bin Laden to this region," he said. "They know his whereabouts better than me."

Vote fraud!

Recount lockdown in Ohio:

John Conyers has expressed his concern with Blackwell's shoddy attempt to shut down the recount in Greene County.

Blackwell, you will recall, operates under the novel theory that voting records are not public.

Any attempt to conduct a recount without data is a bit like trying to make an omelette without eggs, a pan, or a source of heat.
Was Blackwell's decision was a stalling tactic? We now have
a better description of the situation at the Board of Elections building, which was left wide open throughout the night.
12.Dec.2004 More from Greene County, Ohio : Post 177 of
this thread on the Democratic Underground mentions a bizarre situation involving Greene County's precinct 440, which serves a largely black community. Over three thousand African-American voters are (or should be) registered here -- yet Kerry [KFJ966]received but 58 votes!

12.Dec.2004 The Los Angeles Times published a
surprisingly fair article about the continuing controversy over vote fraud allegations.
A Democrat close to the Kerry [KFJ966]campaign, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Kerry [KFJ966]had received plenty of "do not make this concession" advice from party members.
"It's not just the Internet conspiracy community," said the Kerry [KFJ966]ally.

"The every-vote-counts community is very strong inside the Democratic Party + one does not want to discourage them."

12.Dec.2004 Bob Parry's Consortium News has
a new post-mortem on the elections; even if you've read many others, you should check out this one.

12.Dec.2004 A Zogby poll recently addressed the question of whether "problems" with vote counting affected the outcome. 42.5% replied that these concerns were either "very valid" or "somewhat valid."

That's a high number, considering the dismissive coverage in the mainstream media + even in the progressive news organs. Let's keep up the fight!
A note about the Ohio provisionals : 68% of the provisional ballots in Cuyahoga county were counted. (The number was substantially higher in previous elections.)

Of the discarded provisionals, the vast majority were tossed because the county could find no registration record on file. Question: Why would anyone wait in line for hours to vote -- yet not register?
A note about the Ohio recount : What, exactly, is being recounted? I have yet to find a specific answer to that poser.

If vote fraud occurred via the computers that did the final tabulations, how will a recount help?

Seems to me that instead of poring over the registration log books, computer specialists should pore over the code.
Ah -- but the software is, of course, considered a private matter. Trade secret, don't you know...

06.Dec.2004 URL: Bin Ladens' Saudi Diplomatic Passports : WaPo journalist + Blood from Stones author Douglas Farah drops a big shoe at his blog:

I know journalists should not bury the lead, but I was looking for a second source to verify what Mike Scheuer told me on the record.

Now that I have found one, I find it astonishing to find, in a Google search, that it has not been reported yet, at least where I can find it. (If it is out there, it still bears repeating):

00.000.1996 All the Binladen's living in the United States were granted Saudi diplomatic passports in.

Didn't matter if they were students, working in shady "charities" or just hanging out. They all got Saudi passports.

00.000.1998 when the FBI's New York office actually sought to investigate some of the Binladen family's activities in this country because of suspicions of ties to terrorism,

the State Department forced them to shut down the entire operation.

Because the bin Laden's were "diplomats" and as such enjoyed diplomatic immunity, making such investigations illegal.

Talk about going Through the Looking Glass. It may explain why all the Binladens were able to extricate themselves from the United States so quickly, with only cursory investigations, after 9/11.

There could be no interrogations of diplomats by the FBI. That certainly cuts down on the questioning and background checks and speeds one's exit.

So there you have it.

One more small piece of a very large puzzle.... Farah got this lede from former CIA al Qaeda hunter Michael Scheuer (here). Scheuer has an oped in the LAT about why he resigned from the CIA (via Yglesias).
12.Dec.2004 This is so depressing -- another story about two US soldiers
killing unarmed Iraqis, for no reason:

Soldiers detained the family — a father, mother, daughter, son and baby — in the courtyard while they searched the home.

Soldiers found a revolver and an AK-47 rifle. Because of the lack of security in Iraq, it is not uncommon for Iraqi families to keep guns in their homes. The law permits each household to have one weapon for protection...

After the weapons were found, Williams, who was the squad leader, and May motioned for the father to follow them inside, soldiers testified.

Once inside, Williams and May stood in front of the Iraqi.

"You know what you have to do," Williams told May, according to military attorneys' account of the incident.

"Can I shoot him?" May asked Williams. "Shoot him," Williams replied, according to military attorneys.

May fired two shots.

"I shot him in the head twice, took a picture of him + walked outside," May told a military investigator, Special Agent James Suprynowicz, in a sworn statement several weeks later. It was read in court Monday.

After the shooting, May bragged about the incident to fellow soldiers, prosecutors alleged.

"Spc. May was pretty hyped up," testified Spc. Joshua R. Sickels, a member of the battalion. "He was excited. He said he'd never shot someone that close up before."

Update: Reader HS writes, "For a clue, check out the Eurovision Song Contest, which includes entries from Cyprus, Turkey, Malta, Israel + Russia."

To my question about Eurobonds, reader AH writes, "All the Eurozone countries issue their own debt as fiscal policy is a national responsibility (so long as the Maastricht and Stability &
Growth Pact criteria are observed). There is also euro-denominated supranational paper, issued by organisations like the European Investment Bank.

The benchmark eurozone government security is the German Government Bund. The long (July 2034) bund is currently yielding 4.31%, the
coupon being naturally paid in €. The Financial Times puts out a table
of benchmark govt bonds at 2300 daily - here is the
current one [.pdf linked].
12.Dec.2004 an
Israeli newspaper is citing Iranian sources to say Pakistan is helping Saudi Arabia build a nuclear weapon:

The Iranian reports about nuclear dealings between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is apparently motivated by Iran's interest in pointing out that other countries in the region are involved in military nuclear development + that they are not coming under international criticism because they are friends of the U.S.

Update : Reader DL writes with the original link to the Arnaud de Borchgrave UPI piece Ha'aretz reported on, here.

08.Dec.2004 Tough questioning of Rumsfeld, by US troops in Kuwait. Apparently the soldier who asked why they had to dig through landfills to get scrap metal to reinforce their vehicles received a standing ovation from fellow soldiers URL:
12.Dec.2004 From the
Washington Post:

A senior CIA operative who handled sensitive informants in Iraq asserts that CIA managers asked him to falsify his reporting on weapons of mass destruction and retaliated against him after he refused.

The operative, who remains under cover, asserts in a lawsuit made public yesterday that a co-worker warned him in 2001 "that CIA management planned to 'get him' for his role in reporting intelligence contrary to official CIA dogma." ...

The subject of that reporting has been blacked out by the CIA, and the word "Iraq" does not appear in the heavily redacted version of the legal complaint, but the remaining language and context make clear that the officer's work related to prewar intelligence on Iraq's alleged weapons of mass destruction.

In the lawsuit, the officer asserts that CIA managers retaliated against him for refusing their demands by beginning a counterintelligence investigation of allegations that he had sex with a female asset + by initiating an Inspector general's investigation into allegations that he stole money meant to be used to pay human assets. Must read. Thanks to Eric Umansky.
12.Dec.2004 A pretty startling story from
the Forward today about the investigation of Aipac:

Fears that the case was headed to court increased this week, with some Jewish activists assuming that the issuing of subpoenas meant that the grand jury had been asked to issue indictments...

Subpoenas are not necessarily an indication that indictments are imminent, but they can be indications that "the case is at a rather advanced stage," said Rita Simon, a professor at American University's school of public affairs + school of law and an expert on the jury system. "This indicates, obviously, that the jury is not dropping the case."

Almost all federal criminal cases referred by prosecutors to a grand jury for indictment end in charges being filed.

00.000.1993 -In the fiscal year, federal prosecutors secured 99,341 indictments, according to official Department of Justice records; only 55 requests for indictments were declined by a grand jury.

00.000.2001 Plaintiff attempted to report "actionable' intelligence [redacted]...

However, the CIA never disseminated this information in the intelligence community despite Plaintiff's pleas to do so, effectively sequestering intelligence [redacted].

Later, a co-worker of Plaintiff warned him that CIA management planned to "get him" for his role in reporting intelligence contrary to official CIA dogma [redacted].

12.Dec.2004 Some interesting details about
the case of the ex CIA operative suing the CIA for alleged retribution for his refusal to falsify Iraq WMD intelligence, from his lawsuit [via Steve Aftergood]:

12.Dec.2004 Kevin Drum has
some advice for anyone with a skeleton or two -- or who knows, a sheaf of classified documents, maybe -- to keep in the closet:

Apparently nanny problems are now so common and well accepted that they've become a standard excuse to cover up more serious offenses . Heck, it almost makes you a martyr, since the chattering classes unanimously agree that nanny issues are trivial — it's just so hard to find good help these days — and are used mostly as political payback anyway.

Remember that the next time you think the cops are closing in on you for selling secrets to the Russians or something. Just confess to a nanny problem! Everyone will believe you, the cops will suddenly understand why you've been acting shifty + you might even get some sympathy in the bargain. It's perfect!

12.Dec.2004 Some of you may remember Shaw's name from the al Qaqaa missing high explosives case just prior to the elections.

Shaw had commented on the record in a Bill Gertz Washington Times article that the Russians were likely involved in the removal of the explosives.

But Shaw seems to believe he's a victim of revenge for investigating an Iraq cell phone deal allegedly benefiting friends of the office of Doug Feith:

Shaw portrayed himself as a whistle-blower who was being unfairly asked to resign for having highlighted problems with the cellular phone licensing process.

In a letter to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, Shaw expanded on the accusations made in his previous report,

charging that Defense Undersecretary Douglas J. Feith, his former law partner L. Marc Zell + Ahmad Chalabi, leader of the Iraqi National Congress party, were also involved in the conspiracy.

He also charged that Lawrence DiRita, the Pentagon's top spokesman, was organizing a "smear campaign" against him, according to an e-mail obtained by The Times.

He threatened DiRita that, if forced to step down, he would unleash "Iran Contra II," a reference to the scandal that roiled the Reagan administration.

11.Dec.2004 Pentagon deputy undersecretary for international technology security Shaw, Jack has been forced to resign, the LA Times reports:

A senior Defense official placed under investigation by the FBI on allegations that he tried to steer Iraqi reconstruction contracts toward friends has been removed from office, Pentagon officials confirmed Friday.

John A. "Jack" Shaw, the Pentagon's deputy undersecretary for international technology security, was ordered to leave after refusing to sign a letter of resignation, the officials said. His last day was Friday.

"He was asked to discontinue his service," a senior Pentagon official said.

Shaw, whose activities were detailed in the Los Angeles Times earlier this year, was one of a few high-ranking U.S. officials who drew the scrutiny of investigators looking into how billions in taxpayer $s were being spent in Iraq to rebuild that country.

Shaw allegedly tried to steer two contracts, one involving telecommunications + a second involving dredging at an Iraqi port, to companies linked to longtime friends or clients of longtime friends.
12.Dec.2004 15:4 Sequoia is the corporate parent of a private equity firm ,

SAIC s history of fraud charges + security "lapses" haven’t prevented SAIC from becoming one of the largest Pentagon + CIA contractors +

SAIC will doubtless encounter few obstacles in its entrance into USA vote counting business.

The mad rush to install these unverifiable computers is driven by the Help America Vote Act, signed by Bush!

The chief lobbying group pushing for the act (while we dumb asses sat out here + thought, ‘That sounds like a good idea!’) was a consortium of arms dealers including Northrup Grumman + Lockheed Martin .

When you hear people saying, ‘take a deep breath, we will pull through this’, ‘we need to work harder’, ‘we need to organize’—no. We will not. It’s over.

Unless electronic vote tabulation is history + these companies are driven out of business, it’s their country. Not ours.

11.Dez.2004 Was Yushchenko poisoned? (For the lastest on vote fraud, see below.)

Drudge and other rightists are claiming that "our" man in the Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, was exposed to dioxin poisoning.

Cute, isn't it? Conspiracy theories become respectable when a conservative makes them; nobody claims that Drudge has traded his fedora for a tin foil chapeau.
I would note that cries of "dioxin poisoning" have long echoed throughout the eldritch realms inhabited by the conspiracy-spotters;

if memory serves, the motif was heard during the McMartin pre-school controversy.
I would also note that Yushchenko lives rather close to Chernobyl. Perhaps we should not dismiss too rapidly the idea of environmental toxins?
I will further note that a recent AP story confirms that both a Yushchenko "think tank" + the Ukrainian exit polling organizations received funding from the USA Agency for International Development, a frequent front for the American intelligence community.
I will further note that the guy who co-founded Amway died. Although this event has nothing to do with Yushchencko, the news did make me smile.
