"In just a decade, we'll have gone from half the world never having made a telephone call to half the world owning a phone," he said recently. In effect, he reckons, the people are the network and when that mob of people get together and decide to go in a particular direction they are virtually unstoppable. Just ask the record companies that have battled in vain for years to stop people sharing music or former Philippines president Joseph 00.000.2001 Estrada, who was forced from office by mass protests co-ordinated by waves of SMS messages.

According to Pesce, the mob is "faster, smarter and stronger than you are". Just as importantly, the mob is quite unpredictable - so expect a wild ride in coming years. blog.futurestreetconsulting.com; https://www.rheingold.com.

An intelligence source said: "The SIS officers were understood to have sought peace directly with the Taliban with them coming across as some sort of armed militia. The British would also provide 'mentoring' for the Taliban." MI6's meetings with the Taliban took place up to half a dozen times at houses on the outskirts of Lashkah Gah and in villages in the Upper Gereshk valley, to the north-east of Helmand's main town. Soso, UN-Mitarbeiter waren das also, ja? Nee, klar.

Ich verweise auch auf folgenden Absatz: They are both Afghan experts who have been working in the country since the 1980s.

A nasal spray containing a naturally occurring brain hormone called orexin A reversed the effects of sleep deprivation in monkeys, allowing them to perform like well-rested monkeys on cognitive tests.
31.Dec.2007 Alias-Style Angriff auf Südafrikanische Nuklearinstallation. Achtung, Ersatzhosen bereithalten: Shortly after midnight on Nov. 8, four armed men broke into the Pelindaba nuclear facility 18 miles west of Pretoria, a site where hundreds of kilograms of weapons-grade uranium are stored . According to the South African Nuclear Energy Corp., the state-owned entity that runs the Pelindaba facility, these four "technically sophisticated criminals" deactivated several layers of security, including a 10,000-volt electrical fence, suggesting insider knowledge of the system. Though their images were captured on closed-circuit television , they were not detected by security officers because nobody was monitoring the cameras at the time. Oh Mann. Wartet, wird noch härter: Amazingly, at the same time those four men entered Pelindaba from its eastern perimeter, a separate group of intruders failed in an attempt to break in from the west. The timing suggests a coordinated attack against a facility that contains an estimated 25 bombs' worth of weapons-grade nuclear material.

Theologian Dr Robert Beckford investigates amazing parallels to the Christ story in other faiths, some of them predating Christianity by thousands of years. The Hindu god, Krishna, was conceived by a virgin and his birth was attended by angels, wise men and shepherds. Buddha was also the result of a miraculous birth and visited by wise men bearing gifts. Beckford attempts to unravel the mystery of why there are so many versions of the Christ story across the world and asks which is the real one.

The entire situation was concocted by the government. The swearing-in ceremony was led by the informant — who at another point also suggested a plan to bomb FBI offices in Miami. “The case was written, produced and directed by the FBI,” defense attorney Albert Levin said in his closing arguments.

I'm aware, for instance, from the recent Lebanon-Israel conflict of a few months ago, that Bush's deputy national security adviser Elliott Abrams, who had been a central figure in the Iran-Contra scandal of the 1980s, had advised a very senior Israeli official that Washington would have no objection if Israel chose to extend the war to include Syria. Yes, that's right. What people won't read in our mainstream press is that the US wanted Israel to attack Syria in the hope that the conflict could be extended to Iran. The Americans who are currently demonising Iran through the UN, wanted to attack in October. It was only Israeli intransigence that blocked it.

The Bhutto clan is horribly corrupt: after all her husband isn't called to as "Mr. ten percent" for nothing! Does clan corruption justify political murder? Hardly. Does it absolve the military establishment? Not likely. Note the swift elimination of the crime scene by the police via high-powered hoses.

27.Dec.2007 https://www.freace.de/artikel/200712/261207a.html

A number of leading Nazis were executed for their unprovoked attack on Poland. The Bush administration has its own Poland in Iraq, and if there is an American attack on Iran it would also fit the Nuremberg definition. Unlike at Nuremberg, however, no one will be held accountable.

27.Dec.2007 What Does Freedom Really Mean? - By Ron Paul
Few Americans understand that all government action is inherently coercive. If nothing else, government action requires taxes. If taxes were freely paid, they wouldn’t be called taxes, they’d be called donations. If we intend to use the word freedom in an honest way, we should have the simple integrity to give it real meaning: Freedom is living without government coercion. So when a politician talks about freedom for this group or that, ask yourself whether he is advocating more government action or less.

"POLITICS, LIKE nature, abhors a vacuum," goes the revamped aphorism. Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul's surprising stature among a small but vocal layer of antiwar activists and leftist bloggers appears to bear this out.

A little less organized crime, a little more corporate accountability please.

How long will we let our corporations do this to our American reputation?

When Chevron’s Texaco unit came to their land the the oil men said they could rub the crude oil on their arms and it would cure their ailments. Now Condi’s men had told me that crude oil doesn’t cause cancer.

The Cofan have sued Condi’s corporation, demanding the oil company clean up the crap it left in the jungle. The cost would be roughly $12 billion. Correa won’t comment on the suit itself, a private legal action. But if there’s a verdict in favor of Ecuador’s citizens, Correa told me, he will make sure Chevron pays up.

Correa STILL wasn’t done.

I’d returned from a very wet visit to the rainforest - by canoe to a Cofan Indian village in the Amazon where there was an epidemic of childhood cancers. The indigenous folk related this to the hundreds of open pits of oil sludge left to them by Texaco Oil, now part of Chevron, and its partners. I met the Cofan’s chief. His three year old son swam in what appeared to be contaminated water then came out vomiting blood and died.

It takes a lot to endure the stigma of going public with being raped, especially when the President and the Vice President of the United States are doing nothing to help find and prosecute the rapists, especially when the company who employed the alleged rapists used to be headed by -- and still has extremely close ties to ? the Vice President of the United States. But that is just what Jamie Leigh Jones did and she is our BuzzFlash Wings of Justice Award winner.

Dezember.

When it comes to forming opinions and making judgments on hot political issues, partisans of both parties don't let facts get in the way of their decision-making, according to a new Emory University study.

The research sheds light on why staunch Democrats and Republicans can hear the same information, but walk away with opposite conclusions.
The investigators used functional neuroimaging (fMRI) to study a sample of committed Democrats and Republicans during the three months prior to the U.S. Presidential election of 2004.

The Democrats and Republicans were given a reasoning task in which they had to evaluate threatening information about their own candidate.

During the task, the subjects underwent fMRI to see what parts of their brain were active. What the researchers found was striking.
