“The lie can be maintained only for such time

as the State can shield the people

from the political,

economic and/or military consequences

of the lie.

It thus becomes vitally important for the State

to use all of its powers

to repress dissent,

for the truth

is the mortal enemy

of the lie,

and thus by extension,

the truth becomes

the greatest enemy

of the State.”

- - Josef Goebbels,

SCHOLAR of

Bernays,Edward L.,

„Father of PR&Propaganda“

“I

shall give a propagandist cause

for starting the war,

never mind whether it be true or not.

The victor

shall not be asked later on

whether

he told the truth

or not.

In starting and making a war,

not the right is what matters,

but victory

the strongest

has the right.”

- Adolf Hitler

“Those who manipulate the unseen mechanism of society

constitute an invisible government

which is the true ruling power of our country.”

- Edward L. Bernays,

father of PR and propaganda

TEACHER of U$-SPONSORED NAZI-GÖBBELS

Since British primatologist

Jane Goodall

was given leave of absence

from her job taking care of

The Inhabitant,

she has made a documentary

of her life chimps

at their sanctuary in Kenya.

I last reported that

Jane had left the White House

after successfully teaching him

how to talk in sentences

of more than three words.

It was hard work

and Jane deserved a break

so that she could get back to her normal life back in Africa.

But she promised

Condoleeza Rice

that she would return at a moment's notice

in the event of an emergency.

She signed a contract

with a TV cable company and,

in a promotion

aired on CNN last week,

Jane showed just how intelligent chimpanzees are

and were even able to fashion tools

out of the most basic of materials.

One chimp had learned how to hunt for food

by using a long, thick stalk of grass

to push into an ant nest

and pull out insects clinging to it.

Another made a sharp instrument

out of a piece of hard wood

and was able to break objects with it.

One surprise in the documentary,

I have it on good authority,

is footage of

The Inhabitant

with his Play Station

and attempting to read

Baseball News.

One cute shot

showed Jane quietly siding up to him

and gently turning the paper

the right way up.

Attempts are being made

by White House officials

to have this part of the documentary cut

but the documentary company involved

has refused

to snip an inch off the video tape.

Jane has officially denied

that she smuggled a video camera into the

Oval Office

where she used to give

The Inhabitant

his regular speech therapy.

As I am still feeling jetlagged

from my trip to Singapore

I was at odds

on what to write about this week.

There are so many choices.

One of my emails contained a collection

of sayings by famous people

which are as good today as they were

when they were first recorded

- some a few weeks ago

and some a few thousand years ago.

Here's a good one for all Americans

who have not yet twigged what

The Inhabitant is really up to.

"Beware the leader

who bangs the drums of war

in order to whip the citizenry

into a patriotic fervor,

for patriotism is indeed

a double-edged sword.

It both emboldens the blood,

just as it narrows the mind.

And when the drums of war

have reached a fever pitch

and the blood boils with hate

and the mind has closed,

the leader will have no need

in seizing the rights of the citizenry.

Rather,

the citizenry,

infused with fear

and blinded by patriotism,

will offer up

all of their rights

unto the leader

and gladly so.

How do I know?

For this is what I have done.

And I am Caesar."

- Julius Caesar

And this:

"People can always be brought

to the bidding of the leaders.

Tell them they are being attacked

and denounce the pacifists

for lack of patriotism."

-HERMAN GOERING

“To announce

that there must be

no criticism of the president,

or

that we are to stand by the president

right or wrong,

is not only

unpatriotic and servile,

but is

morally treasonable

to the American public.”

- Theodore Roosevelt

“You can't blame the administration

and the Republicans

for taking us back to deficits,

for spending the Social Security surplus

and assaulting the environment.

That's what they promised to do

in the last election.”

- Bill Clinton.

“What kind of peace do we seek?

Not a Pax Americana

enforced on the world

by American weapons of war.

Not the peace of the grave

or the security of the slave.

I am talking about genuine peace,

the kind of peace

that makes life on earth worth living,

the kind that enables men and nations to grow

and to hope and to build a better life

for their children

- not merely peace for Americans

but peace for all men and women

- not merely peace in our time

but peace for all time.”

- John F. Kennedy,

June 10, 1963

“The ultimate measure of a man

is not where he stands

in moments of comfort

and convenience,

but

where he stands

at times of challenge

and controversy.”

– Martin Luther King Jr.

"Most propaganda

is not designed to fool the critical thinker

but only to give moral cowards an excuse

not to think at all.”

- Michael Rivero

“When the president does it,

that means

it's not illegal.”

-Nixon,Richard

“The minority,

the ruling class at present,

has the schools and press,

usually the Church as well,

under its thumb.

This enables it

to organize and sway

the emotions of the masses,

and make its tool of them.”

- Albert Einstein

“What the public wants

is called

'politically unrealistic.'

Translated into English,

that means

power and privilege

are opposed to it.”

- Noam Chomsky

“The twentieth century

has been characterized

by three developments

of great political importance:

the growth of democracy,

the growth of corporate power,

and

the growth of corporate propaganda

as a means of

protecting corporate power

against democracy.”

- Alex Carey

The worst forms of tyranny,

or certainly

the most successful ones,

are not those we rail against

but those that

so insinuate themselves

into the imagery of our consciousness,

and the fabric of our lives,

as not to be perceived

as tyranny

- Michael Parenti

“People

have so manipulated

the concept of freedom

that it finally

boils down

to the right of the stronger

and richer

to take

from the weaker

and poorer

whatever

they still have.”

- Theodor Adorno

“The most potent weapon

in the hands

of the oppressor

is

the mind

of

the oppressed.”

-Steve Biko

“The greatest triumphs of propaganda

have been accomplished,

not by doing something,

but by refraining from doing.

Great is truth,

but still greater,

from a practical point of view,

is silence about truth.”

- Aldous Huxley

“Our civilization

is locked in the grip of an ideology

- corporatism.

An ideology

that denies and undermines

the legitimacy of individuals

as the citizen in a democracy.

The particular imbalance of this ideology

leads to a worship of self-interest

and a denial of the public good.

The practical effects

on the individual

are passivity

and conformism

in the areas

that matter,

and

non-conformism

in the areas

that don’t.”

- John Ralston Saul

“We wish to control big business

so as to secure among other things

good wages for the wage-workers

and reasonable prices

for the consumers.

Wherever in any business

the prosperity of the businessman

is obtained

by lowering the wages

of his workmen

and charging

an excessive price

to the consumers

we wish to interfere

and stop such practices.

We will not submit

to that kind of prosperity

any more

than

we will submit

to prosperity

obtained by swindling investors

or getting unfair advantages

over business rivals.”

- Theodore Roosevelt,

"We Stand at Armageddon", 1912

“This will

inevitably sound

self-serving,

but the fact is

it is an enormous advantage to the public

to have somebody who knows about

the securities business

and the securities law

as I do,

and it would be unthinkable

to deprive people

of my expertise.”

“The lure of heavy profits

of the late 1990's

spawned abuses and excesses.

With strict enforcement

and

higher ethical standards,

we must usher in a new era

of integrity

in corporate America.”

- George W. Bush.

Those who seek to establish systems of government

based on the regimentation of all human beings,

call this a New Order.

It is not new

and it is not order.”

- Franklin Delano Roosevelt

“He who is unaware of his ignorance

will be only misled

by his knowledge.”

– Richard Whately

“Our country, right or wrong!

When right,

to be kept right;

when wrong,

to be put right!”

- Carl Schurz,

in a U.S. Senate speech,

1872

My favorites:

“Face it:

a nation

that maintains

a 72% approval rating

on George W. Bush

is a nation

with a very loose grip

on reality.”

– not attributed

“At one moment during the negotiations,

the U.S. representatives told the Taliban,

‘either you accept our offer

of a carpet of gold,

or we bury you

under a carpet of bombs.’”

Jean-Charles Brisard

and Guillaume Dasquie,

Forbidden Truth

(this threat was made in July of 2001)

"There ought to be limits to freedom.”

- George W. BUSH (aka The Inhabitant)
