"The two sides were competing for the same territories, the same animals + fuel supplies + occupying the same cave spaces.

With that kind of competition, the Neanderthals were always going to come out as the losers," Mellars said.

And so it appears that both these sides co-existed

for less than 1,000 years before the Neanderthals faded away simply because they were not built to face the challenges of modern life.

"Evidently the native Neanderthal populations of Europe succumbed much more rapidly to competition from the expanding biologically + behaviorally modern populations than previous estimates have generally assumed,"

Mellars commented.

He also said that the climatic changes aided the extinction of the Neanderthals earlier than thought, since modern man appeared to be physiologically better built to deal with these changes.

This means that rather than taking 7,000 years to completely colonize Europe + Africa, modern man took just under 5,000 years to do so, according to Paul Mellars, a professor of prehistory at Cambridge University,

"The same chronological pattern points to a substantially shorter period of chronological + demographic overlap between the earliest …

modern humans and the last survivors of the preceding Neanderthal populations,"

Mellars writes in the Nature paper.

Modern Europeans are thought to have arrived on the continent 45,000 years ago,

but the latest analysis seems to indicate that

this migration took place between 46,000 and 41,000 years ago.

The exhibit, one of the more unusual this year, posits notions about women and their objectification in Hollywood.

In our post-feminist era, as we watch these women stare directly at us, are we simply observing something historical, or are we complicitous in their objectification as well?

Who knows what other mysteries are hidden away in the basements of museums? Let's hope the "Baghdad Batteries" + the many other treasures turn up safe + sound.
26.Feb.2006
https://www.theepochtimes.com/tools/printer.asp?id=38508

The "Baghdad Batteries" are 13cm high earthenware jars, one of which was first discovered by German archaeologist Wilhelm Konig in 1938. Up to a dozen of the jars are said to have been found.

The function of the jars has been much debated, as there is no written record of them.

The jars contain a vertical cylinder made of sheet copper and an iron rod.

The edges of the sheet copper were soldered together to make the cylinder, using 60/40 silver-lead solder similar to that used in electronics today.

The top of the jar and both ends of the cylinder were sealed with asphalt. The iron rod was held in place at the centre of the cylinder by the asphalt.

Mr Konig found the iron rod was corroded, as if it had been etched by acid.

Dissimilar metals such as iron and copper form an electrochemical couple when submerged in an electrolyte such as acid, producing electricity.

Mr Konig concluded that the jars could have been filled with an electrolyte + suggested they were used for gilding gold onto silver – a process today known as electroplating.

"The combined wealth stolen by the top 1 %

= is equal

to the combined wealth of the bottom 95 %.

There's more money there than you can imagine, enough for all kinds of programs"

I meant where you can get money that the public would actually stand for.

And I sure hope no Democrat is dumb enough to refer to Warren Buffets' or George Soros's wealth as "stolen".

"Defining taxation as theft doesn't make it so. "

True, but you can define it as such when all that's happening is the transfer of money from one individual to another.

Sure, if we're building roads, hospitals + providing for defense and police officers, that's like paying dues.

It's an obligation of every citizen. But when we're doing wealth redistribution, that's theft.

Sure, I guess it's a rather subjective way to think about it, but I'm sure a public opinion poll would side with my view on it by quite a large margin.

Americans simply do not support redistribution except to alleviate poverty.

And even then, the bare minimum necessary to keep people from starving until they can get back to work.

Is this just crypto-liberalism? I can't vouch for the neutrality of these academics.

However, I can tell you that reading into the DP literature convinced me that the (largely) Republican case that medical malpractice damage awards have gotten too high + should be capped, is almost certainly a good one.

I never thought I'd change my mind about that one.

And in this forum, John Moore suggests that Warren Buffet is an indirect beneficiary of death taxes.

Hm, interesting.

Maybe Buffet isn't some horse-sense investment genius after all, but a kind of predator.

If so, is that the complete case against death taxes?

Well, I don't know.

But it's an interesting point + credible (if not proven, to my mind.)

How many people DO know the complete cases pro and con, for death taxes?

And what would be the result,

if you put the pro/con cases together + made a random sampling of voters sit down with each other, read through it all + talk out the decision, much as they do when arriving at a verdict in a jury trial?

Whatever the result, wouldn't that be truer to the core concept of democracy than what we have now? Posted by: Michael Turner | November 3, 2004

George W. Bush's brother Melvin Bush was on the board of directors of a company -Securetec- that handled security for the WTC, Dulles + United.
According to USA Today, the FAA operations manager, Ben Sliney gave the order to clear the skies on 9-11.

It was his first day on the job.
Only 189 people died in the Pentagon because Flight77 flew horizontally into Wedge 1 just after its $258,000,000 strengthening program was completed.

4600 workers were still out of their offices on that day.
Presumably the hijackers not only wanted to save as many lives as possible but wanted to help the Pentagon by testing out the blast resistant glass + steel reinforced concrete walls.

you would have to be a profound investigator,

from mostly secret sources,

on the worldwide dope trafficking

by the American CIA.

When you are knowledgeable on that,

then + only then,

do you understand the financial buffoon, Warren Buffet.

Is it a mere coincidence that his purported nephew,

Jimmy Buffet +

his rock concerts seem to be part of making dope use fashionable?

His band, The Corral Reefers, is a word play for narcotics.

At his concerts, there is reportedly massive trafficking and use of dope.

26.Feb.2006 https://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,366675,00.html Emotionale Defizite

Drei Viertel seien mindestens schon einmal Pleite gegangen.

Many people + business want to operate just like Buffett, but without the thorough up front analysis, not selecting highly qualified people + letting them run operations without intervention from headquarters +

not making decisions for the long-term.

And I'm sure he doesn't make his managers spend weeks every year filling out 57 column, business planning, template worksheets that are then rejected because income projections are too low.

Other educational stuff pertaining to the US $.

Some persons are hedging their bets against the $ because of the idea that the next administration/criminal syndicate controlling the US government will implement fiscal austerity measures

to rein in the budget deficit -- and that they will attempt to reduce the trade deficit.

That may well be true, but if the US $ remains at the current level, *those* outsource jobs + offshore manufacturing plants are not coming back here, especially given high energy prices.

Also, there is no indication that the US Regime will reduce foreign military adventurism - or that their policies will reduce overall levels of hostility,

https://www.moderateindependent.com/v1i9arnold.htm

Many of you may have heard by now that the man Schwarzenegger brought on as top economic advisor - billionaire Warren Buffet -

has suggested getting rid of Prop 13, which - for those of you unfamiliar with it - holds property tax increases to a minimal one %.

Warren wants to raise them - something Californians - especially Republicans - would revolt against.

And then there is the matter brought up by Terry Neal of The Washington Post, about Arnold's position on the board of a group called U.S. English,

an extremist, anti-immigrant group that uses making English the nation's only language

as a front to promote a hateful, racist, immigrant-bashing agenda.

So, what does Arnold have to say about these things?

In general, he says, nothing.

https://www.moderateindependent.com/v1i9update.htm

Publicly, there are calls for McClintock and Ueberroth to drop out. In private, the murmurs are beginning to appear that Arnold should exit – McClintock seems to be more formidable and the base is better able to get fired up about him. The talk by Warren Buffet of raising property taxes has played a definite role in this, but more tangibly it is Arnold’s inability or refusal to date to talk more than base level rhetoric about any issue. California Republicans care about the issues deeply + as much as they want Davis out, they want to make sure they are getting someone better for them in there.

The segment of Republicans who think the recall is, “BS,” as several have told us, will still vote for it.

These people were the first to criticize the looting after the (1991 LA) riots,” said one Democratic activist.

BRIAN GOES DOWN Earl Brian's role in the PROMIS theft was spelled out explicitly by Inslaw lawyer Elliot Richardson, another Watergate figure in the New York Times in 1992..

Richardson was the attorney general who actually stood up to Richard Nixon's corruption during the Saturday Night massacre.

Brian sued over the New York Times article and lost.

Richardson had written the article to encourage investigation of the case, but Brian used the opportunity to start a nusiance libel suit.

29.Nov.1995 the New York Court of Appeals dismissed Brian's claim + declared that Richardson's assertions came under free speech protections.

Although never prosecuted over the PROMIS allegations,

Brian survived only one more year after the libel suit before other past shady deals began to catch up with him.

00.Oct.1996 a California jury convicted him of Federal bank fraud, conspiracy and lying to auditors.

Prosecutors charged that Brian had drafted false documents to conceal the losses of the Financial New Network + United Press International,

for whom he served as chief executive, in order to obtain $70 million in bank loans for his other concern, a biotechnology firm Infotechnology.

MARKET AND MIND CONTROL

22.Nov.1963 -on assassination day-Interestingly, the pattern of financial impropriety in the case was identical to one that happened.

Someone named Tony DeAngelis misrepresented his holdings of thosuands of tons of salad oil with faked American Express warehouse receipts in order to get bank loans.

Exposure of the fraud was the top news story in the New Tork Times editions that came out before the assassination on that date.

Many people profiteered from the short-selling spree on the markets consequent to that + news of JFK's murder,

including American Express magnate Warren Buffet +

a transnational entity called Bunge Corporation,

known in the financial literature of the time as The Octopus.

In a classic work on the JFK assassination, Were We Controlled,

psuedonymous author Lincoln Lawrence argues that DeAngeles, Ruby and Oswald were all mind-controlled in their actions on that day.

(Adventures Unlimited Press is reprinting this book with annotations, bibliography, photographs and index by Kenn Thomas. Write to POB 74, Kempton, IL 60946.)

Add to that the fact that Earl Brian at one time was a brain surgeon +

the other Watergate-Inslaw connection, E. Howard Hunt, who had a phone relationship with Casolaro,

has also been connected to mind control operations + the story takes some extremely interesting speculative turns.

https://www.rense.com/general69/tyr.htm Cheney fully understands the suffering that deficits produce.

Now, he wants to continue that misery as a permanent function of government.

Why?

Is it really so important to reward the "fortunate 1%" that the administration would risk the economic well-being + solvency of the nation?

And,

what is the relationship between the ocean of debt produced by the Bush team + their strengthening of police-state apparatus

like

unlimited spying on Americans,

the NSS (Bush's new Secret Police),

the uniform Federal ID program,

the Patriot Act +

Halliburton's $385 million contract from Homeland Security to construct new detention + processing facilities VULGO : LABORCAMPS - within the USA?

Is the ascendancy of the police-state intended to balance the catastrophic effects of

economic destruction?

Or,

do the new instruments of repression

anticipate

the "political turmoil"

(Warren Buffet's words) that naturally results from financial collapse?

The Bush master-plan is no different than the economic shock-therapy the USA has directed at the third world for decades.

The strategy is simple and straightforward, but virtually foolproof in achieving its objectives;

the crushing of the middle class and the subsequent shifting of the nation's wealth to the "oligarchy of racketeers" who run the system.

The levers of power have all been faithfully assembled by Bush operatives, while America's $3 trillion trade deficit looms overhead like the sword of Damocles.

As the underpinnings of economic wellbeing continue to deteriorate;

causing further job-flight + credit spending + soaring energy prices;

the power-brokers at the head-of-state

calmly arrange the instruments of repression

they'll need to maintain order.

Did we really imagine

the chickens

would never come home to roost?

Why was Warren Buffett, a civilian, hosting a pre-planned non-publicized charity event at a military center -- the very center where Bush was taken -- and where Tatlock arrived?

Buffet is reportedly not famous for charity work, but has somewhat the opposite reputation among his peers.

One must ask who the others of Buffett's financial prowess were in attendance at SAC on that day of the collapse of the World Trade Centers. Did they meet with President Bush. What was the nature of their conversation?

A detailed report of President Bush's day on 11.Sep.2001 speak of this incidental meeting of Buffet earlier that day,

but say "it's unknown if any of these people were still at Offutt by the time Bush arrived in the afternoon." (cooperativeresearch.net; San Francisco Business Times, 2/1/02;

Forbes 10/15/01;

Wall Street Journal 9/12/01.)

Published news reports of Bush's activities at Offutt mention several government individuals who were present with him + mention that there were "others" as well.

(ABC News, 11.Sep.2002 ,

Telegraph, 16.Dec.2001 ,

Washington Times, 08.Oct.2002 .)

The foreplanned meeting there of at least two of these players of such global prestige, one of which would be most profoundly effected by the attack, is too striking to dismiss as sheer coincidence.

The likelihood of conspiracy or complicity is too high to ignore.

It must be investigated at length.

Wells Fargo, with the aid of CIA darling Warren Buffet, can continue, without difficulty, doing their covert operations money laundering for the American CIA.

Does anyone dare ask Warren Buffet, as a major purported sto ckholder of Wells Fargo, if HE knows anything about the spy agency + the funding of political assassinations?

What mass media reporter could pin down Buffet with such a question + still have a job + be employable within the monopoly press?
Can the Vatican, which retains an interest in Bank America, jointly with the Yakuza, dare remedy anything?

Supposedly, under the rules and procedures of his office, it was entirely "within his discretion",

whether to proceed or not to have somebody indicted on federal criminal charges.

So he just filed away all this data in his head office.

He had a hang up. One of many.

His immediate family member was a culprit, most likely subject to federal criminal prosecution, in the dirty business of the "California Bankruptcy Club".

And moreover, the prosecutor came out of certain law firms and law circles up to their eyeballs in the same rackets.
Another problem was the heavy hitters in finance.

The records + witness statements showed

the illicit funds skimmed off of the California U.S. Bankruptcy Courts,

were going offshore,

through secret accounts in California banks.

One such named was Well s Fargo.

But they also funneled clandestine funds for the whole Pacific Basin covert operations of the American CIA.

And a major owner of Wells Fargo is Warren Buffet, the Omaha poobah who claims he became a billionaire from properly operating a local furniture store.

For sarcastic reasons, we prefer to pronounce his name as BUFFAY. We are not the only ones who suspect his fortune is based in part on CIA operations + even, reportedly, dope trafficking on a big scale.

vote no” campaign to remove from the board of Lockheed Martin Corp.,

its nominating committee chairman +

a former top Lockheed Martin executive, Norman Augustine +

Frank Savage, a former Enron Corp. director.

The Lockheed Martin board has renominated Savage for a board seat

even though reports by both Enron’s own board +

a Senate subcommittee investigation

offer a clear, strong case against individual Enron directors

serving on other corporate boards.

(Last year at Lockheed Martin,

the AFL-CIO organized a campaign against Savage that garnered a record 28 % “no” vote.)

In addition to mobilizing campaigns against management proposals, shareholder activists continue to put forward their own proposals,

which are advisories to board members responsible for protecting shareholder interests.

Union and union-sponsored pension funds historically have been the biggest sponsors of corporate governance reform shareholder proposals.

For the 2003 proxy-voting season, these funds have introduced hundreds of proposals, nearly double their activity last year—and already have made big wins.

(To help pension fund trustees fulfill their fiduciary obligations in voting on proposals, the AFL-CIO has made public its updated Proxy Voting Guidelines.)

The majority of union-sponsored proposals this year focuses on excessive executive compensation—including salary, stock options and pensions—

because such remuneration dilutes value for shareholders and shields executives from the financial risks they ask shareholders and workers to take. (On

14.Apr.2003 the AFL-CIO will launch an updated Executive PayWatch website.)

Renowned Wall Street investor Warren Buffet recently called reining in executive pay “the acid test of reform.”

Says AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Trumka,

While workers have watched their retirement savings dissolved by corporate scandals,

many executives have negotiated extra pay and pension benefits.”

In response to shareholder proposals sponsored by the AFL-CIO, General Electric Co. (GE) + Coca-Cola Co. agreed in February to phase out sumptuous salary and pension benefits for top executives.

Questions were asked last week about a series of full-page broadsheet advertisements promoting a biography of Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud, the American-educated nephew of the late Saudi King Fahd,

who is rumoured to give away more than $100m a year.

Indeed, Americans like to think of him as "the Saudi Warren Buffet", the multimillionaire investor who last week sold his memoirs for $7m.

Alwaleed: Businessman Billionaire Prince , an authorised life by Riz Khan, is published by HarperCollins in what cynics were suggesting might be a so-called vanity deal.

It's not clear whether the Prince is a business associate of Rupert Murdoch, whose News Corp owns HarperCollins.

Given his great wealth - the Prince is among Forbes' top five of the world's wealthiest - any advance would be neither here nor there.

For a Saudi prince, he is notably enlightened:

he hired the first female airline pilot in Saudi Arabia, where women still cannot legally drive a car.

They include USSTRATCOM (U.S. Strategic Command), the NGIS (National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, formerly NIMA - National Imagery and Mapping Agency) + the NRO (National Reconnaissance Office). In a nutshell: the NRO launched a satellite on September 5, 2001 - six days before several U.S. intelligence agencies were engaged in an "exercise" that exactly simulated the events of that fateful day - the NGIS, formerly NIMA, got a new director one month prior to that day from the extremely corrupt Booz, Allen + Hamilton - and USSTRATCOM is where Warren Buffet sat with some of his favorite CEO's from the WTC on 9-11 (Buffet heads Mitre Corporation, one of the prime explorers of remote control aerospace technology).
16.Sep.2001 The following is snipped from Microcom's Space Newsfeed (): "The devastating terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, New York + the Pentagon have shocked + horrified us all.

The attacks also caused disruption for satellite + space companies across the USA." ~snip~
"
The National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) is reported to have allocated new tasks to the fleet of spy satellites it controls."

Schlussbemerkungen

25.Feb.2006
https://www.lnc-2010.de/html/mata_hari_2006.html

Conducted Air Crash Simulation on 9/11/01 (What are the chances?!?)
This on the same date as the NRO (having launched a new top-secret payload into space three days earlier) conducted its own simulation!!! Remember the movie Wargames?

Well, I guess it WASN'T just a game this time.

I wonder who was at the joystick that day.

Warren Buffet was the billionaire that helped pioneer remotely controlled piloting (financially) + he just happened to be at USSTRATCOM (US Strategic Command)

that day with an unknown number of CEO's from the WTC who, magically, had the day off.

They’re sending you someone else’s statement with their account data??? Wow. BAD. Easy solution: In your next conversation, point out that they’re violating federal regulations (Reg-D, maybe? I don’t recall now). Then tell them you’re a blogger and remind them what happens when bloggers start running with a good story— MSM will eventually pick up the story and mangle the details and by the end, it’ll be a huge scandal about how they’ve been hacked and how half their customers have lost money. *grin*

Even better, let them know you’ll be forwarding any new incorrect statements received directly to your friends at the New York Times. Oh + tell us which bank first so we can short their stock.

25.Feb.2006 Another Ars Ultimate Budget Box Zonk 205
Some nice Friday afternoon reading for you; Ars Technica has another go at the Ultimate Budget Box, a cheap no-frills PC for minimum cash output. From the article: "Look around inside most corporate offices, where most computers need to handle a few Office documents and light Internet use. They don't need to be able to burn CDs or handle 3D-intensive games, but they do need to be reliable and affordable. Lots of s out there probably want a similar box--an appliance that lets them get onto the Internet, take care of e-mail + create a few documents. For them, being able to burn a CD-RW would probably be nice, but anything beyond that is an extra. Low-cost, reliability + quality are key. That is what the Ultimate Budget Box is about: not skimping on components, but not loading it up with features either." The final price? US$525.46

I foresee the next versions of blog tools as focusing less on features that appeal to early adopters. They'll be easier for people to incorporate more media and maybe mobile capabilities. This will be important, because many more mainstream users will come to blogging. I believe the interest in blogging is just starting.'"

What's not working is the underlying idea. If doctors and drugs could give us better health, we'd already be better.

That is why the field of holistic and alternative medicine is growing so fast - it's survival.

The healthiest people in human history were groups who were geographically isolated from "civilization."

These people had no specialists, no HMOs, no prescription drugs + no immense hospitals.

They were never subverted with the idea that the responsibility for their own health lay outside themselves.

Except in the cases of traumatic injury, for most of their lives they looked to the body's inner wisdom + trusted only that.

And it worked - they had beautiful teeth, strong bones + very little degenerative disease.

Corpses in the Garden -By Charles Sullivan
Knowing what I know about the history of my country, it is often difficult for me to fathom how my fellow countrymen have shaped their views. I have come to believe that they have created a mythical America that is not a real place. The perceived necessity of substituting a fantasy world for the real world suggests there is something terribly wrong with the American psyche.

From the article: 'Razorback2 was an eDonkey2000 indexing server - very different in nature from an indexing site such as ShareReactor.

Unlike indexing sites, Razorback2's index was only available through an eDonkey2000 client such as eMule.

While it does not host any actual files or multimedia material, it does index the location of such files on the eDonkey2000 network.

The legality of such indexing remains questionable, however this has not deterred copyright enforcement actions.'"

Japan to Discourage Sale of Old Electronics ScuttleMonkey 112+
devphaeton writes to tell us Engadget is reporting that after April 1st (no this is not an April fools joke) the sale of old electronics in Japan could become much harder. From the article: "It seems that Japan's government revised its "Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law" back in April 2001 + added a stipulation that items authorized under the country's old law (the "Electrical Appliance and Material Control Law") couldn't be sold anymore, but granted those products a five-year grace period. Well, if you check your convenient wall calendar, you'll see that the five-year period is about to end, which means that as of April 1, pretty much any electronic gear sold before April 1, 2001 can't be legally resold in Japan." The article also mentions that sellers can continue to sell old gear providing they get certification that the items conform to modern safety standards.

Free video hosting and the popularity of iTunes is blamed for this phenomenon." From the article: "This is far from an academic issue. Whether the new companies can deliver on their promises could have a profound effect on how the Internet operates--and it could hit s in the pocketbook. Waas has uncovered evidence that Bush gave Woodward classified data vital to national security, against the better judgment of intelligence professionals.
24.Feb.2006
https://www.cannonfire.blogspot.com/Here's the kicker: Woodward seems to be turning around...again.

The greatest threat to America's democracy is not terrorism but governmental secrecy, said

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Bob Woodward, whose reporting almost 35 years ago pierced the veil of secrecy behind Richard Nixon's presidency.
Although a massive, coordinated attack on the country, making 9-11 look like a "footnote," is still possible,

the nation faces a greater threat from the federal government's current secrecy drive,

Woodward told an audience in San Antonio on Tuesday.
"
Democracies die in darkness," Woodward told the 500-person crowd of mostly business + community leaders

as part of Trinity University's policy maker breakfast series, a 25-year tradition.
The Bush administration, which gave Woodward remarkable access for his two books on the administration's war on terror, "Bush At War," in 2002 +

"Plan of Attack," in 2004, has cloaked its decision-making in "an immense amount of secrecy," he said, "too much, in my view."

The prediction of a massive attack on the country is unnerving.

Is Woodward dealing in surmise...or prophecy...or advanced warning ?
And is his criticism of the administration genuinely felt?

Or is he simply trying to re-ingratiate himself with those readers who now consider him about as "fair and balanced" as Sean Hannity? Permalink

The nasty old wiseguy who ran the Vatican's bank + left his bloody fingerprints on a massive Mafia-CIA-Freemasonry scandal is finally dead at age 84.

Unfortunately for prosecutors seeking justice for the occult execution of an Italian banker, Archbishop Paul Marcinkus has taken his sordid secrets back to Hell with him.

Marcinkus ran dirty dealings at the Vatican Bank for two decades.
24.Feb.2006 To many Italians following the
incredible "P2 lodge" scandal at home, Calvi's murder was a clear message from the powerful Masonic offshoot that had all but taken over Italy's fragile government.

Calvi was a member of P2, after all + inside the lodge Italy's rich and powerful wore black robes and addressed one another as "friars."
24.Feb.2006
Just before his murder, Calvi reportedly warned that the Mafia + the Vatican were one + the same.

"The only book you've got to read is 'The Godfather,'" he said in an interview.

"That's the only one that tells how the world is really run."
24.Feb.2006 "You can’t run the church on Hail Marys," he would say with a laugh.

he said in 1985. "But at least I'm not in jail."

A local judge in Upstate New York has stripped a mother of visitation rights to her son, based on her appearance in several comedy skits, including one parodying Mel Gibson's hit movie, "The Passion of The Christ."
Rachel Knight Bevilacqua, who performs as Reverend Magdalen, was stripped of all visitation rights to her son by an enraged Judge James P. Punch, a County Court Judge in Orleans County after he saw photos of Bevilacqua's performance at "X-Day," an annual satire and performance art festival held in Sherman, New York at the Brushwood Folklore Center by the Church of the SubGenius.

23.Feb.2006
https://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/weltraum/0,1518,druck-400601,00.html
Natürlich glaubt Coyne an Gott.

23.Feb.2006
https://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/weltraum/0,1518,druck-400601,00.html

By your own assessment, it is time for impeachment proceedings to begin .

Here?s the proof. First, we have Karl Rove?s infamous ? but largely ignored ? PowerPoint presentation delivered on June 14th, 2002. According to Rove, point number one for the Republican mid-term election campaign strategy was "Focus on War and the Economy", in that order.
Second, we have White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card?s word for it.

Explaining why the Bush war machine cranked up 00.Sep.2002, he said, "From a marketing point of view, you don?t introduce new products in August."

So, it was clear to the White House Chief of Staff that the war was a political "product" to be marketed in a timely manner even if you, Mr. Hiatt + the rest of the mainstream media refused to acknowledge it.
And now we have the Downing Street Memos.

Much has been made of the fact that Richard Dearlove, the head of British Intelligence, reported that the Bush administration was fixing intelligence around the policy of invading Iraq + that "the evidence was thin."

But just as damning is the revelation that "...the most likely timing for US action to begin was January, with the timeline beginning 30 days before the US Congressional elections." (Emphasis added).
Finally, we watched Messrs Bush and Cheney use verbal sleights of hand and legerdemain to resurrect the WMD threats and al Qaeda links in their 2004 Presidential campaign,

even as the Duelfer Report was driving the final nail in their coffin of lies.

Thus, we know that : the White House had "made up its mind to invade" by 00.Jul.2002 ;

the White House (Karl Rove) saw this as a political opportunity; they saw it as a "product" to be launched;

they were intentionally timing it to be a factor in the elections;

"the case [for invasion] was thin;" long before he consulted with Congress, the International Community, or the American people,

"Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD;"

"... the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy;"

the administration twice ramped up their rhetoric of fear around national elections.

30.Jun.2005 Greg Palast I HOPE I DIE BEFORE THE NEXT RE-FILL A July 4th note from Greg Palast's journal
I was in the drug store today out here in Podunk.

Some old guy in front of me was picking up his little paper bag of prescription medicine.

The lady behind the counter handed him a credit card slip and said, "I'm sorry."
She was sorry because the bill was over $1,200.

The old man stared at the charge card receipt + stared at it some more.

Hesitating, he signed, then said, "I hope I die before I have to pay for the next re-fill."
He wasn't joking.

The lady behind the counter said, "Oh, don't ever say that."

And she said it in such a way that it was clear she'd heard the same thought before, in different words, from too many of the old folk that come by.
And I was thinking, "I wonder if he voted for Bush?"
I mean, did he vote for the man who would stop boys from kissing boys, who would allow big stone icons of the Ten Commandments in the Podunk courthouse, who would get Saddam before he got us?

In other words, was he a blind soldier in Karl Rove's army of the angry who would rather vote against themselves, for deadly high drug prices dictated by Big Pharma, for no national health insurance, in return for a promise from George Bush that he will be the malicious defender of their prejudices?
The polls tell us that Americans are in an ugly mood: too many jobs leaving for China, too many body bags returning from Iraq + a bad feeling about a President grabbing for grandma's social security check.
America is hurting. But what really hurts is that the wounds are self-inflicted.
Happy Fourth of July, compadres. And stay healthy. Click on Greg Palast's writings in Views at

Herzen,

er

ist ein wunderbarer

Führer
