13.Aug.2006 Feingold: Joe Lieberman ‘Doesn’t Get It’ - Nico - Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) echoed Vice President Cheney last week by arguing that a timeline for Iraq redeployment (backed by 57 percent of Americans) “will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England. It will strengthen them and they will strike again.”

This morning on ABC’s This Week, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) responded to Lieberman’s remarks. “Joe is showing with that regrettable statement that he doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get it,” Feingold said. Watch it:

Full transcript:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Senator Lieberman thinks that your approach will strengthen the terrorists and it’s a victory for terrorists. What’s your response?

FEINGOLD: Well, I like Joe Lieberman, but I support Ned Lamont, because Joe is showing with that regrettable statement that he doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get it.

The fact is that we were attacked on 9/11 by Al Qaeda and its affiliates and its sympathizers, not by Saddam Hussein.

And unfortunately Senator Lieberman has supported the Bush Administration’s disastrous strategic approach of getting us stuck in Iraq instead of focusing on those who attacked us.

I mean, look at the places that have been attacked: India, Morocco, Turkey, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Somalia, Spain, Great Britain. What does this have to do with Iraq? And Senator Lieberman is stuck on that point.

Ned Lamont and I believe that we should refocus on those who attacked us on 9/11 and not simply try to cover our tracks because this was such a very poor decision in terms of the overall battle against the terrorists who attacked us.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you think Senator Lieberman should get out of the race?

FEINGOLD: Well, you know, I think that’s his own decision. It would be better for the Democratic Party, I think it would be better for the people of Connecticut, it would be better for the country if he did it.

Not because he hasn’t been a good Senator, not because he isn’t a good man, but this is a critical time. And we have to change course.

We have to focus on those that attacked us on 9/11 + get away from this very mistaken policy in Iraq. So it would be helpful if he would do it, but obviously Joe will have to make that decision for himself. Report: Israel to end war 7AM Monday. - Judd -

Israel, meanwhile, flew hundreds of commandos into southern Lebanon on Saturday, tripling its troop strength to 30,000 and sending some army units as far as the Litani River even as both sides indicated they would accept a U.N. cease-fire plan to stop the heavy fighting,” the AP reports.

13.Aug.2006 Source: U.S., U.K. at odds over timing of arrests By John Amato on Terrorism

Anyone doubt the timing of this story now?

British wanted to continue surveillance on terror suspects, official says. NBC News has learned that U.S. and British authorities had a significant disagreement over when to move in on the suspects in the alleged plot to bring down trans-Atlantic airliners bound for the USA.

A senior British official knowledgeable about the case said British police were planning to continue to run surveillance for at least another week to try to obtain more evidence, while American officials pressured them to arrest the suspects sooner. The official spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case.

In contrast to previous reports, the official suggested an attack was not imminent, saying the suspects had not yet purchased any airline tickets. In fact, some did not even have passports.

13.Aug.2006 Israel's War Crimes: NGOs Need to Get a Clue Another Day in the Empire
Israel’s War Crimes: NGOs Need to Get a Clue By Administrator on Uncategorized

More useless hand-wringing from the humanitarian NGOs.

Humanitarian agencies sought ways to get aid to an estimated 100,000 people trapped in southern Lebanon on Friday + the mayor of Tyre said the port city could run out of food in two days,” reports ABC News.

United Nations and other convoys have been unable to deliver supplies to the region since an Israeli air strike destroyed the last bridge across the Litani river on Monday.”

It is interesting to note that these humanitarian organizations refuse to admit the obvious and act upon it—Israel + its patron, the USA, are criminal organizations and unless there is political consciousness realizing this fact and political action on the part of the NGOs and, indeed, millions of citizens in these countries, nothing will change.

Remarkably, International Committee of the Red Cross chief Jakob Kellenberger wasted a whole lot of precious time playing pattycakes in Jerusalem, attempting to convince the racist settler state to stop killing innocents in Lebanon. In other words, the good Mr. Kellenberger is a dupe for the Zionists, who have no intention of letting up on their diabolical ethnic cleansing and slaughtering of babies and grandmothers in Lebanon with depleted uranium and other illegal weapons. Kellenberger should refuse to talk with the Jabotinskyites and instead talk about organizing an economic boycott of the country.

The U.N. World Food Program, overseeing logistics for U.N. agencies, said a 15-truck convoy to the eastern town of Baalbek halted at the city of Zahle due to shelling on the road ahead,” ABC News continues. “It also received Israeli clearance for convoys to Nabatiyeh, a town north of the Litani, but could not reach Tyre, the biggest city south of the river, or border villages.”

As we know, Israel not only purposely shells roads, preventing humanitarian assistance, but also targets ambulances and fleeing refugees, scurrilous war crimes all. It is all part of the Master Plan of “reshaping” the Arab and Muslim Middle East by way of mass murder and starvation, crimes reminiscent of the Nazis. In the short term, this plan includes ethnically cleansing southern Lebanon to the Litani and annexing hundreds of squares miles, much of it prime agriculture real estate and the crown jewel, the fresh water of the Litani River, a resource Israel sorely needs and has conspired to steal for decades.

Israel, driven insane by its own hubris and racist religious precepts, fully intends to clear all Arabs, both Muslim and Christian, from this snatched “security zone,” an objective only its demented leaders and military strategists believe can be accomplished. Hezbollah, an entirely legal resistance movement (minus its ill-advised rocketing of Israel), knows differently. Hezbollah understands from personal experience that people will resist occupation and slowly, methodically take out brutal occupiers one troop at a time, as the Vietnamese and Algerians did before them.

It is now clear that Israel’s control over the occupied territories is + has all along been intended to be, a drive to assert exclusive Jewish control, taming the Palestinians into submission and squeezing them into ever smaller, more disconnected segments of land or, failing that, forcing them to leave Palestine altogether,” write Kathleen and Bill Christison. “It is totally obvious to anyone who spends time on the ground in Palestine-Israel that the animating force behind the policies of the present and all past Israeli governments in Israel and in the occupied West Bank, Gaza + East Jerusalem has always been a determination to assure the predominance of Jews over Palestinians. Such policies can only be described as racist + we should stop trying any longer to avoid the word.”

Or for that matter, the predominance of Jews over Lebanese Arabs.

Like a dim-witted fool who continually makes the same mistake over and over again, the ICRC and other humanitarian organizations seem dedicated to not solving the problem in Lebanon and Palestine, avoiding the obvious—Israel and its patron the USA are renegade, criminal nations and should be criticized at every turn, boycotted, shunned + denounced. Otherwise, the insanity will go on indefinitely.

Or until Newt Gingrich and the perfidious neocons realize their World War Three. On that day, as the nukes fly and the planet begins its descent into irreparable damage, it will be too late to save not only the Lebanese, but humankind as a whole.

UN Resolution fails to acknowledge that Israel has launched a War against Lebanon
Transcript of Resolution 1701: "the word "War" is not mentioned.
Michel Chossudovsky, GlobalResearch.ca UN Security Council Resolution 1701 was drafted by France + the US in close consultation with the Israeli government.

a) The resolution is in blatant violation of the UN charter and international law. It fails to acknoweldge that Israel has launched an all out war on Lebanon in violation of international law. It describes the bombing and destruction of an entire country as as a "conflict between Hizbollah and Israel". The word "war" does not appear in the the text of the Resolution. b) Referring to the two abducted Israeli soldiers, the Resolution states that Hizbollah was responsible for launching "the attack on Israel on 12 July". It denies the fact, amply documented, that an all out war against Lebanon had been in the planning stages well before July 12. c) The historical causes of the war are denied. The abduction of the two Israeli soldiers on July 12, is presented as a just cause for Israeli retaliation... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25686

The UNSC 1701 Resolution: Why No Lebanese Should accept it
The Angry Arab News Service The UNSC 1701 Resolution: Why No Lebanese Should accept it. So here is the text of the draft UNSC resolution. "Expressing its utmost concern at the continuing escalation of hostilities in Lebanon and in Israel since Hizbollah's attack on Israel on 12 July 2006, which has already caused hundreds of deaths and injuries on both sides, extensive damage to civilian infrastructure and hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons." This paragraph clearly lays the blame on Hizbullah for the Israeli war of aggression. And notice that Hizbullah's capture of the Israeli soldiers is sneakily blamed for "the hundreds of deaths and injuries on both sides."

Both sides is always brought up when Israeli record of murder and terrorism is being covered by an international agency under US pressures, in order to absolve Israel... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25683

What a Relief: Terrorist Babies Have Been Killed!
Courtenay Francis Raymond Barnett Dear George, This is a personal appeal for you to decide. I know that you are "the decider" who will make sensible decisions once you read this letter. The topic is terrorism. The noun "terrorism" is on a lot of peoples? minds. The Oxford English dictionary informs me that the word means, "use of violence and intimidation especially for political purposes." I recall Nelson Mandela resorting to violence when peaceful requests failed to achieve his political ends of justice and representation for all South Africans. The Palestinians seem likewise to have been radicalised over time after their legitimate political grievances for justice, representation and statehood were ignored. Keeping occupied land, not respecting the dictates of UN Resolution 242 while not withdrawing to the 1967 borders, imprisonment of thousands of Palestinians, building Apartheid walls around the Palestinians, of course are the types of minor irritants that could never in the minds of fair + just people ever constitute any form of violence or intimidation for political purposes ?never!...

It?s amazing really that nobody sees the paradox of Reid calling for the abolition of what?s left of our civil rights in order to preserve them but then there?s nothing logical about the 'war on terror?, it is itself a contradiction of terms.

Israeli troops have been ordered to advance to the Litani. That being the case, there is no way they will evacuate quickly without being driven out: one does not try to advance 30 kilometres into another country only to beat a hasty retreat. The Anglo-American empire's next 9/11 will set up final war; 'foiled ? UK terror plot a propaganda dry run
Larry Chin, Online Journal Associate Editor The

10.Aug.2006 report of a spectacular foiled UK-based super-terror plot, an alleged Operation Bojinka variation, has sparked an unprecedented round of 9/11-style fear and panic mongering throughout the world.

This is a new attempt, at the highest levels of the Bush + Blair administrations, in concert with Pakistan's ISI + Israel, to fabricate the justification for an escalation in the "war on terrorism" across the Middle East.

This escalation will include an attack on Iran and Syria as early as October + with even greater geostrategic violence to follow. Proof that Bush administration planning the next 9/11. As far as the "peace deal" agreed to last night by the U.N. War now, peace later: Israel?s doves line up behind war - Part one
Jean Shaoul, WSWS One of the most significant features of Israel?s wars of aggression in Gaza and Lebanon is the unanimity between the so-called "hawks" and movements that in the past were considered "doves." Peace Now has remained largely silent over Israel?s massive assault on Hamas and the Palestinians in Gaza, ongoing since June. In the case of Lebanon, from the moment full-scale hostilities began in July following Hezbollah?s capture of two Israeli soldiers, Peace Now declared its support for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and the Olmert government. It issued a statement on its web site explaining that its members had gone to Kibbutz Gonen in northern Israel to proclaim that Israel had the right to respond to the capture of the Israeli soldiers and that Peace Now supported Israel?s right to defend its borders. Peace Now has echoed the government?s propaganda that Israel faces provocations by Hamas and Hezbollah, accepting the official Israeli and American definition of both organisations as terrorist groups...

LIQUID TERROR: Training People To Act Like Subservient Slaves
Terrorists planned to mix liquids so why are they all being poured into airport bins?
Steve Watson / Infowars.net A The latest terror plot facade is nothing more than an exercise to assess how subservient the general population has become and a primer to making permanent the panicked and ridiculous freedom crushing security measures we are seeing being rushed into implementation at the moment. Whilst the government is saying there is no going back on these measures and that they will become permanent, the media is bleating about rushing in biometric retina scanners and Orwellian behaviour sensing technology. This is the only way they can do these things without backlash and protest, just have a major terror alert and rush them through. How is it that people can still deny that our governments are forwarding a big brother control agenda? ID cards, Biometric databases, retina scanners, face scanning cameras, behaviour sensing machines. The list goes on.

It has been proven over and over that these measures will not help prevent terrorism, the government itself has even admitted this, so why do they relentlessly push them?... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25696

Bush Versus the Constitution
David Swanson Last December, when Congressman John Conyers released a huge report documenting the evidence that Bush and Cheney had lied us into a war, he also introduced a bill (H. Res. 635) to start a preliminary investigation of the matter and make recommendations on impeachment. This showed far more courage, not to mention long hours of work, than any other member of Congress had mustered at that time or since. But it was disingenuous. Impeachment is itself an investigation; a preliminary investigation is redundant. And any investigation is unnecessary when the impeachable offenses are part of the public record. Last week, Conyers released an expanded report, including new superfluous evidence of proven crimes related to the war, plus a lengthy Section 2 focused on illegal spying programs. The evidence of blatant criminality and threat to the Constitution in this new section is devastating...

13.Aug.2006 WHITE WINE MAY BE AS GOOD AS RED FOR HEART By TPR

TIMES OF INDIA - White wine may be just as good for the heart as red, says a new study. Till recently researchers had suggested that red wine contained antioxidants that were good for the heart. Grape skins are crushed along with the pulp to make red wine, but the skins are separated for preparing white wine. A group of American and Italian researchers compared the effects of feeding laboratory rats water or equal amounts of grape pulp extract, or grape skin extract for 30 days. The results published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry showed both extracts were equally effective in protecting the rats from induced heart attacks, reported online edition of health magazine Web MD. Rats fed either grape skin or grape pulp extract had significantly smaller heart attacks compared with those fed water, it said. In addition, tests showed both extracts appeared to have the same level of antioxidant activity.

Cleaning Uranium Waste with Bacteria - Hemos 104 -Roland Piquepaille writes

"Nuclear bombs can kill people even if they're not used.

In the U.S. alone, the Department of Energy estimates that more than 2,500 billion liters of groundwater are contaminated with uranium as a consequence of nuclear weapons production.

In "Uranium 'pearls' before slime," scientists from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) say they discovered that some common bacteria could "convert deadly heavy metal into less threatening nano-spheres." In fact, these bacteria can convert soluble radioactive uranium into a non-toxic solid form called uraninite.

Still, more research needs to be done before using these bacteria on a large scale, but it's a step in the good direction.

Read more for additional references and photos showing how Shewanella oneidensis can help us to decontaminate groundwater at nuclear waste sites."

New Super-sized Customer Database for Amazon? - CowboyNeal 125 -dtjohnson writes

"Amazon.com has applied for a patent to create an online customer database which would allegedly contain 'massive amounts of intimate information about its millions of shoppers, including their religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity and income.' From the article: "The database, which would combine information disclosed voluntarily by customers with facts gleaned from public databases, conceivably would give Amazon a larger or more detailed profile of its customers than any other retailer. Does this cross the privacy line or is it just reasonable data gathering to make retail sales more responsive to customer needs?"

It’s that’s time again – for another ‘terror plot’: It’s amazing really that nobody sees the paradox of Reid calling for the abolition of what’s left of our civil rights in order to preserve them but then there’s nothing logical about the ‘war on terror’, it is itself a contradiction of terms.

'Global economy' is a modern Orwellian term. On the surface, it is instant financial trading, mobile phones, McDonald's, Starbucks, holidays booked on the net. Beneath this gloss, it is the globalisation of poverty, a world where most human beings never make a phone call and live on less than two dollars a day, where 6,000 children die every day from diarrhea because most have no access to clean water. 13.Aug.2006 https://www.cannonfire.blogspot.com/ All of our information derives from pronouncements by the British, Pakistani and USA governments. Four years ago, I would have taken such pronouncements at face value. Today, the phrase "consider the source" suggests itself.

Two things are certain:

1. Bush has lied about a supposed connection between this plot and Hezbollah. Hezbollah is an Iranian-supported Shi'ite group; Al Qaeda supporters consider Shi'ism to be a kind of heresy + they have no love for Iran.
2. Bush has actually weakened our security. From the AP (quoted by
Buzzflash): "While the British terror suspects were hatching their plot, the Bush administration was quietly seeking permission to divert $6 million that was supposed to be spent this year developing new homeland explosives detection technology." Permalink

The rules of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS when it comes to the Israeli-Arab conflict:
Rule # 1 : In the Middle East, it is always the Arabs that attack first + it's always Israel who defends itself. This is called "retaliation".
Rule # 2: The Arabs, whether Palestinians or Lebanese, are not allowed to kill Israelis. This is called "terrorism"
Rule # 3: Israel has the right to kill Arab civilians, this is called "self-defense", or these days "collateral damage".
Rule # 4: When Israel kills too many civilians. The Western world calls for restraint. This is called the "reaction of the international community".
Rule # 5: Palestinians and Lebanese do not have the right to capture Israeli military, not even a limited number, not even 1 or 2.
Rule # 6: Israel has the right to capture as many Palestinians as they want (Palestinians: around 10000 to date, 300 of which are children, Lebanese: many were held without trial). There is no limit; there is no need for proof of guilt or trial. All that is needed is the magic word: "terrorism"
Rule # 7: When you say "Hezbollah", always be sure to add "supported by Syria, Iran & FPM" :)
Rule # 8: When you say "Israel", never say "supported by the USA, the UK and other European countries", for people (God forbid) might believe this is not an equal conflict.
Rule # 9: When it comes to Israel, don't mention the words "occupied territories", "UN resolutions", "Geneva conventions". This could distress the audience of Fox.
Rule # 10: Israelis speak better English than Arabs. This is why we let them speak out as much as possible, so that they can explain rules 1 through 9. this is called "neutral journalism".
Rule # 11: If you don't agree with these rules or if you favor the Arab side over the Israeli side,... [

13.Aug.2006 Robot Balances on a Single Spherical Wheel - CmdrTaco 164 - dalangalma writes

"Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute have developed a new kind of robot called the Ballbot that balances on a steel ball. Using a mechanism similar to a ball mouse, the Ballbot uses rollers to drive its single, spherical wheel and balance in place or glide around the room. The promise of such dynamically stable robots is that they can be much taller without having to have a wide base, making them much more suitable for working with humans. They are also much more agile, since they can be pushed out of the way easily without falling over. You can read the press release or check out the project's web page when it recovers from traffic."

Bush Officials Admit Playing Little Role In Foiling British Terror Plot - Think Progress -

Conservatives have “seized on the arrests of terrorism suspects in Britain yesterday to bolster a White House campaign to turn national security issues to their advantage.”

But as White House officials have admitted — and news reports have verified — the Bush administration apparently had little to do with foiling the potential “second September 11.”

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff:

Well, we think the British succeeded in disrupting the plot. And there’s no question the focal point of the operational activity was in Britain. … Now we really took a lot of our cue from them because they had the boots on ground. They had the firsthand knowledge. [10Aug.2006]

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:

Today’s announcement is a true testament to the hundreds of hours of patient work by British authorities . [Gonzales, 10.Aug.2006]

Congressional Quarterly:

[Conservative lawmakers] largely praised the administration’s response, although it appeared British authorities had thwarted the plot with minimal involvement by the USA . [8/10/06]

CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux:

[W]e have learned that President Bush first learned about this developing terrorist plot on Sunday . That is when he had a video conference call with Prime Minister Blair. [8/10/06]

The actual White House record is nothing to brag about. The former 9/11 Commission gave the administration “dismal” grades on homeland security in its latest report card, including an “F” for failures to improve aviation security. Commissioner James Thompson, the former governor of Illinois, “warned in particular of the failure to protect against terrorists smuggling a bomb onboard a plane.”

13.Aug.2006 9/11 Commissioner: Terror Plot Shows Danger of Putting ‘All Our Intelligence and Military Resources in Iraq’ - Judd -

This morning on CNN, former 9/11 commissioner Tim Roemer argued that the recent terror plot in Britain illustrated why we need to direct resources from Iraq to the global terrorist threat. Roemer said, “It’s very important that we don’t put all our intelligence and military resources in Iraq and take our eye off the ball in other places in the world.”

He also emphasized that “it’s very important that we capture Osama Bin Laden” because Bin Laden is producing “CNN quality tapes” and “communicating with hundreds of millions of potential jihadist and trying to get them to sign up.” Watch it:

<script type="text/javascript"> //

It’s been four years, ten months and twenty-five days since President Bush pledged to capture Bin Laden “dead or alive.” Digg It! Full transcript:

ROEMER: We need to finish the job in Afghanistan. We need to capture Osama bin Laden. These are unfinished parts of the agenda. Afghanistan is backsliding. We are sending more NATO troops there. We are running into more problems in the south. More sorties are going on there then maybe even in Iraq and we’re having problems with the Tora Bora hills and trying to find Osama bin Laden and Zawahiri who seem very confident these days releasing their tapes and these are CNN studio quality tapes that they are putting out there these days communicating with hundreds of millions of potential jihadists and trying to get them to sign up.

O’BRIEN: You mention more problems potentially than Iraq, that’s a little bit of a quote of what you just said. Are you suggesting that maybe we should be withdrawing resources and money out of Iraq and putting it into capturing Osama bin Laden and in Afghanistan and other things? I mean at the end of the day, right, it comes down to ‘X’ number of dollars can be spent in certain things. Where do you put that money?

ROEMER: I don’t think you can cut and run from Afghanistan. I think you really have to finish the job there. We started out well. We did some things innovatively there with special operation forces and our CIA recruiting Muslim Americans to help. We did a great job there initially and now we’re seeing some backsliding and some lack of progress there + I think it’s very important to finish the job in Afghanistan. It’s very important that we don’t put all our intelligence and military resources in Iraq and take our eye off the ball in other places in the world and it’s very important that we capture Osama bin Laden and we are not letting him release a tape every few months trying to motivate and inspire and recruit new jihadists.
11.Aug.2006 August 11, 2006 - Think Progress - President Bush’s approval rating has “dropped to 33, matching his low in May,” according to an AP-Ipsos poll. The majority of people who voted for Bush in 2004 (57 percent) disapprove of the job he is doing.

Greenland’s icecap “is melting faster than ever before on record + the pace is speeding year by year,” new data shows. “The consequence is already evident in a small but ominous rise in sea levels around the world, a pace that is also accelerating.”

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) once called using national security issues for political purposes “just unacceptable and in my opinion un-American.” Yesterday he said that a timeline for Iraq redeployment (backed by 57 percent of Americans) “will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England. It will strengthen them and they will strike again.”

Reps. Henry Waxman (D-CA) and Charlie Melancon (D-LA) have written to FEMA about a report that 94 percent of emergency housing trailers for Katrina victims “contain hazardous levels of formaldehyde, a known carcinogen.”

The GAO found almost 30 percent of State Department diplomats abroad are “ failing to speak and write the local language well enough to meet required levels .”

Iraq needs one to two years to rebuild its security forces ,” Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi said Thursday, contradicting a recent claim by Iraq’s President Jalal Talabani that they would be fully operational by the end of 2006.

The Bush administration has illegally denied the public a chance to comment before approving the logging of woodlands damaged by fires or infestations,” a federal appeals court ruled yesterday.

Violence in genocidal Darfur is increasing. “The number of armed clashes during that period was twice as high as the number last year,” says Jan Pronk, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Sudan.

Most states have shirked the law by failing to ensure that poor and minority students get their fair share of qualified teachers , a new analysis contends.”

And finally: Is Rummy getting ready for his close-up? Premier Magazine reports Donald Rumsfeld “hangs around movie sets — as in a recent visit to the Clint Eastwood-directed war epic ‘Flags of Our Fathers.’” “What was funny is that he stuck around for a while,” cast member Jesse Bradford said. “It’s like, ‘Don’t you have anything better to do? You’re supposed to be running the country.’”

Beck has a warning for Muslims "who have sat on [their] frickin' hands" and have not "lin[ed] up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head" In Religious Discrimination

10.Aug.2006 -On the- broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio program, Glenn Beck warned that "[t]he world is on the brink of WWIII." + that

"Muslims who have sat on your frickin' hands the whole time and have not been marching in the streets" will face dire consequences.

Beck made his comments toward Muslims who he claimed "have not been saying, 'Hey, you know what? There are good Muslims and bad Muslims.

We need to be the first ones in the recruitment office lining up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head.' "

He predicted that the result will be that "[h]uman beings are not strong enough, unfortunately, to restrain themselves from putting up razor wire + putting you on one side of it," adding that "when people become hungry, when people see that their way of life is on the edge of being over, they will put razor wire up and just based on the way you look or just based on your religion, they will round you up."

He concluded: "Is that wrong? Oh my gosh, it is Nazi, WWII. wrong, but society has proved it time and time again: It will happen."

From the August 10 broadcast of Premiere Radio Networks' The Glenn Beck Program :

BECK: And again + I told you before we ever went into Iraq we're not going in there for weapons of mass destruction. That's important and that's great and everything else.

We're going in there because Iran is the root of all evil over there. Iran is the root of all of the problems over there.

And that's why we were going in.

Well, Iran knows that + now that we are really deep in the battle - + everybody else might think - I mean, all these just imbeciles who are, "What are we doing over in Iraq?" Read. For the love of Pete, read. Open your eyes.

The world is on the brink of World War III. That's what we're doing over in Iraq. Now I'm not saying that we're in the best position in Iraq, I'm not saying I agree with necessarily the way we fought it in Iraq, but that's what we're doing in Iraq. And, we gotta stop -- I'm telling you, soon the time will come when they will drop 10 planes into the drink + if what I said is true + I hope it's not, what I said is true that Iran may not be stalling for time for the nuke. Iran may be ready to play their endgame. If that is indeed is true, when you see somebody drop 10 planes into the Atlantic, Iran is going to make its move. At the time Iran makes its move, they are going to move right through Iraq and they are going to move all the way to Israel. And the whole Middle East is going to be on fire.

And when that happens, the terrorists are going to bomb the oil fields. When that happens, when you see 10 planes go into the Atlantic Ocean + if Iran is ready, that's when they're going to make their move in the Middle East and that's the same time within two days that's when Venezuela will shut the oil down over here. And I'm telling you it's coming. And at that point, you know what happens? All you Muslims who have sat on your frickin' hands the whole time and have not been marching in the streets and have not been saying, "Hey, you know what? There are good Muslims and bad Muslims. We need to be the first ones in the recruitment office lining up to shoot the bad Muslims in the head." I'm telling you, with God as my witness, America is -- no I'm not going to make this an American thing -- human beings are not strong enough, unfortunately, to restrain themselves from putting up razor wire and putting you on one side of it. When things -- when people become hungry, when people see that their way of life is on the edge of being over, they will put razor wire up and just based on the way you look or just based on your religion, they will round you up. Is that wrong? Oh my gosh, it is Nazi, World War II wrong, but society has proved it time and time again: It will happen.

The time to solve these things is when there's somewhat reasonable people engaged. But once you cut our oil supply off, once you set the Middle East on fire + once you drop 10 planes into the Atlantic Ocean, the razor wire is coming. And our whole world looks different.
13.Aug.2006 US Court Finds We Have an Official Secrets Act By Michael on Law: Free Speech

Secrecy News has the scoop at Recipients of "Leaks" May Be Prosecuted, Court Rules.

Basically -- for the first time and I'd argue contrary to the First Amendment and legislative intent -- the a US court has held in US v. Rosen (the AIPAC case), that private citizens who have no contractual obligations to keep government secrets + no security clearances, can nonetheless be prosecuted under the Espionage Act for sharing classified information they receive.

Judge T.S. Ellis, III (ED Va - where else?) argues in his opinion that this ruling is but a narrow one since it requires that the private citizen know the information is classified and that release would be potentially detrimental to national security, intend to share it + do so knowing that this is illegal.

Seems to me that Nixon would have used this argument to prosecute newspapers for publishing the Pentagon papers; perhaps, given what we know now, they might have won on the merits, but surely the fear of jail (for Espionage ) would have acted as a substantial deterrent to that and other important publications.

Indeed, it's not hard to see this ruling as pushing us well down the slippery slope to a world in which in practice only Official Leaks, those giving the pro-administration side of a story will be published.

Don't look for the 4th Circuit, the most statist in the nation, to overturn this. But I'll bet even Scalia will vote to overturn it, as will the Supreme Court with at least six judges in the majority. Link

Refusing to Fight: an interview with Resister Kyle Snyder
Karen Button Those who have seen the recent documentary about U.S. GI resistance during the Vietnam war "Sir No Sir!" will understand the numerous parallels to growing resistance in today?s military and its solidarity with the civilian anti-war movement. From non-violent demonstrations and sit-ins to the radical actions of The Weather Underground, hundreds of thousands protested the Vietnam war for years. Finally, officials began leaking classified information. But, ultimately, it was the individual soldier refusing to participate any longer that brought the military machine to its knees. Fragging of superiors and outright refusal to follow combat orders became commonplace. Desertion and Absent Without Leave (AWOL) hit an all-time high; the Pentagon documented 1,500,000 during that time. About 100,000 of those active duty members went into exile + at least 90 percent of them fled, to Canada. Today, those precedents are being repeated.

Lebanon War Resonates in Iraq
Nicola Nasser, thepeoplesvoice.org ...The "Shiite" Hizbollah identifies more with the reportedly "Sunni" Iraqi national resistance and its Palestinian counterpart than with the reportedly "Shiite" collaboration with the U.S. occupation of Iraq (...) The Iraqi sectarian-led mass protests were politically hollow because they were not reinforced by either anti-occupation political or concrete moves on the ground. It was ironic to listen to the thousands of protesters sincerely chanting anti-American slogans and announcing their willingness "to go and fight in Lebanon" while the troops of the "American enemy" were a few meters away guarding against the protests spelling out of control against them and their Iraqi allies. Those slogans could have been more credible had just a few of the protesters dared to demand their leaders to overcome their sectarian loyalties and join their Sunni compatriots in resisting the foreign occupation. For example the Sadrist movement, the main leading force behind the protests, could have gained national credibility by at least quitting its five cabinet posts and the 30 seats it holds in the Iraqi parliament, which prop up al-Maliki government, whose spokesmen are day + night hailing the Americans as the liberators, allies + friends of the Iraqi people, thus prolonging the occupation...

The Right to Defend What ?
Robert.Thompson ...My conclusion is very simple, the Israelis have no right to defend their discriminatory "state", but they have the right to survive on condition of acting with justice towards all in habitants equally, which would meaan the end of their "Jewish state" to replace it by a democratic state. Missing the Story in Lebanon
KABOBfest ...If Israel-lovers don't like negative media coverage, they should get Israel to stop being the snotty, hyper-aggressive, settler-colonial, apartheid state it is. Given how criminal Israel's political history and policies are, media coverage in the US should be much more critical -- like the European press, for example. Everyone else in the world sees that it is wrong to occupy and oppress the Palestinians. However, Israel is largely saved from the proportionate criticism i t merits. Hezbollah Warns Arabs to Leave Haifa
KABOBfest Just as the diplomatic overtures between Hezbollah and Israel are sinking on the rotten (pro-Israel) foundations they were planted on + just as the Israeli cabinet decided to broaden the already broad offensive in Lebanon, Hezbollah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah warned all Israeli Arabs to leave the port city of Haifa so the militant group could step up attacks without fear of shedding the blood of fellow Muslims. Haifa, the third-largest city in Israel, was alrea dy by Hezbollah's rocket attacks. The damage was nothing compared to Israel's in Lebanon of course.

The al-Hadithah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local eyewitnesses as saying that the US forces had closed all the city?s entrances and exits and close the roads inside the city in addition to imposing a curfew. The lock down affected not only al-Hadithah, but also the suburbs of al-Haqlaniyah and Barwanah. Eyewitnesses reported that at the time of reporting, American troops were raiding houses and making mass arrests... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25618

Israeli Gaza Commander: ?We Are Determined to Create Chaos?
John Dugard Heads HRC?s Fact-finding Mission to Palestinian Territories
Palestine Media Center ? PMC Ignoring international outcries for restraint and diplomacy, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) were on Saturday advancing their reoccupation push into the Gaza Strip amid Palestinian, Arab and Islamic diplomatic efforts to stop the Israeli invasion, efforts that have been aborted so far by a US-led western diplomacy. "We are determined to create a professional chaos, to jump from one place, to emerge, to use this method or another, to leave the territory and enter it again after a while," Israel?s Gaza Division Commander Brigadier General Kochavi told Ynet on Friday, after a visit by the IOF Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Dan Halutz... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25617

Should some US media be tossed out of the Middle East?
Truth About Iraqis I just caught wind of a neat little report tugged into the midst of CNN's coverage of the "War in the Middle East". CNN's anchor Kyra Phillips introduced the report on why Hezbollah fights Israel by asking the audience whether it is based in a hatred of Jews or a turf war. The reader should be mindful here. Any opposition, any debate, any rejection of Israeli viewpoints will immediately incur charges of anti-Semitism. So, the report begins by reflecting on how Hezbollah wants Israel destroyed.

How Israel seeks "peaceful co-existence" with its neighbors, but the "other side" wants Israel's existence wiped out... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25616

Psychopaths Murder Children - You Pick Up The Tab
Joe Quinn, Signs of the Times Recently, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said: "I believe this is a war which is fought by all the Jews," the Israeli prime minister said in a conference call and webcast Monday. Let's face it,The State of Israel is fighting against the Iranians and the Syrians." What is clear is that Olmert, (and Sharon before him) Bush, Rice and the members of their respective political parties and their corporate friends have no problem with murdering innocent children.

But my question is: Do You? Does the ordinary American or Israeli Jew (or Israeli Christian or Arab) sanction the cold-blooded massacring of innocent people?... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25615

Israeli airforce bombs Lebanese funeral five times, killing 13
Saed Bannoura - IMEMC & Agencies Thirteen people were killed Tuesday evening in Al Ghazziya, Lebanon, while attending the mass funeral of the fifteen Lebanese people killed just the day before. Local sources reported that 1500 people were attending the funeral procession, praying and mourning, accompanying the fifteen coffins in a procession to the town's cemetery, when the missiles hit. The first missile dropped by Israeli warplanes hit a building quite near the procession, then, about thirty minutes later, four more missiles were dropped among the mourners, killing 13 + wounding 18,

THE FORGOTTEN VICTIMS OF ISRAELI TERROR
DesertPeace As the war rages on in Lebanon, the 'other' victims are being forgotten. The hostilities by the Israeli army have not let up in Gaza at all since the bombings on Lebanon began. These 'forgotten' victims of Israeli terror must not be forgotten... their plight must be known and their struggle for freedom must be supported. The zionists are crying that citizens from the north are being forced to leave their homes. This is true.... BUT.. in most cases they will have homes to return to when the hostilities stop.

This is not true of the Palestinians in Gaza... their homes are being destroyed, they are without electricity, water, sufficient food or medication... https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25609

The Grave Consequences of Supporting War in Lebanon
Scott Ritter With Israel waging an all-out war against the forces of Hezbollah + the death toll in terms of civilian casualties mounting on a daily basis, the question of a diplomatic resolution to the crisis takes on an urgency that is being felt around the world. Everywhere, it seems, except in Israel and the USA. One should not be fooled by the "false" diplomacy being waged by the USA, fronted by Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton. The draft Security Council resolution co-sponsored between the USA and France is but a tragic farce, a smoke screen designed to unilaterally protect Israeli interests at the expense of all others that is so transparent no Arab nation takes it seriously (it has been rejected outright by Lebanon, Syria and Hezbollah). https://www.uruknet.info/?p=25608

From the article: 'PatchGuard will make it harder for third parties, particularly host intrusion-prevention software, to function in Vista,' said Yankee Group analyst Andrew Jaquith. Robin Weiss and his colleagues did genetic studies on the tumor cells from 40 dogs with Sticker's sarcoma, collected from five continents, which showed that all the tumor cells are clones of each other. The parent cell probably arose in a domesticated dog of Asian origin — perhaps a husky — hundreds of years ago + perhaps more than 1,000 years ago. A similarly transmissible cancer has recently been discovered spreading through populations of Tasmanian devils."

13.Aug.2006 Charter Flight Websites / Services? - Cliff 318+ -X86Daddy asks:

"TSA's latest announcement banning all fluids (toothpaste even) from carry-on luggage is the icing on a very sour cake. Many passengers are growing tired of the invasive security screenings, the increasing prices, lost and stolen luggage + the decreasing quality of service with commercial flights in the USA. However, given the geographical size of this country and the lack of rail options, flight remains the only practical method of travel for most destinations. Can anyone suggest alternative flight services? Are there websites that connect Cessna or other small scale air charter services with interested passengers? I've found CharterX and CharterHub but they seem more geared toward executives looking for jets. Does anyone have experience traveling this way? Is the price point a lot higher, making this a dumb idea (just resign myself to buying toiletries at every destination and prepare for the mandatory anal probes in '07)?"

The Liquid Terrorists and Our Fear-Mongering Governments  Source: XML Neal's Workshop

Per the Irish Examiner, "Terror plot chaos - Police foil plan to blow up 10 airlines" (Excerpts below in blockquote have been numbered for easy reference):
12.Aug.2006 Whatever that means. Got a taste for hyperbole?

[7] Stringent new security measures were imposed at all British airports yesterday, causing widespread chaos.

What's the solution to stopping a terrorist plot? Tell travelers they have to throw away their toothpaste and shampoo. Induce panic at the airport. Stoke the fires of fear.

And that's what [1] - [7] are all about: fear. Our governments are nothing but fear-mongers. They feed on the fear of the masses. Why? Because without fear, governments would cease to exist.

I'm tired of it. Aren't you?

Griffin says it took nearly two years for him to reach the conclusion that elements within the U.S. government orchestrated the "terrorist" attacks on New York and the Pentagon. According to the new book's preface, Griffin was originally working on a history of 9/11 and "blowback" -- the theory that American imperial actions produce hatred for the USA as well as violence against Americans.

But some of his fellow professors were investigating a far more controversial theory -- that the "terrorists" themselves could be found in Washington, not a cave in Afghanistan.

Griffin writes that he only began to reject the official 9/11 conspiracy after studying a disturbing timeline of 9/11 events compiled from newspapers, wire service articles and television news.

Christian Faith and the Truth behind 9/11, A Call to Reflection and Action" is the new book by theologian David Ray Griffin.

Like his previous underground bestseller, "The New Pearl Harbor," Griffin's latest book explores the cover-ups and myths of 11.Sep.2001.

But this time, the retired professor of theology demands that Christians rise up and confront the evildoers just as Jesus and his followers fought the Roman Empire.

The Presbyterian Publishing Company says the book should energize Christians to fight the wicked ones who control the USA:

"Drawing a parallel between the Roman Empire of antiquity and the American Empire of today, he applies Jesus' teachings to the current political administration + he explores how Christian churches, as a community intending to be an incarnation of the divine, can and should respond

"A Scottish MP last night quit the government in protest at Tony Blair's handling of the Middle East crisis, amid warnings from ministers that the Prime Minister's continuing support for American foreign policy could cost him his job," the Scotsman reported this morning.

"Jim Sheridan, Labour MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, became the first to resign from a government post over the war. He quit as parliamentary private secretary to the Ministry of Defense, saying he could no longer accept that Scottish airports were being used to refuel USA planes carrying arms to Israel."

The newspaper made it crystal clear that Blair had mere days left in power, with some 150 members of parliament demanding Blair's enemy Jack Straw call the politicians back to London, even though they're on summer break:

"His resignation came as ministers furious at Mr Blair's handling of the crisis said they would push for an emergency recall of parliament in a maneuver they hoped would trigger the Prime Minister's downfall."

Unlike the theoretical "massacre" of the theoretical terror plot that will soon be exposed in the courts as another make-believe scheme, actual massacres continue uninterrupted in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon.

At least 2,000 Iraqis were slaughtered in July alone, most in Sunni vs. Shiite violence that has exploded under the U.S. occupation. Baghdad continues to be the capital of death, but the bloodshed happens everywhere, every day, all the time. Today in Najaf, another religious shrine was blown up, leaving at least 35 dead and another 100 hurt.

Morons and Patsies

If the suspected terrorists are anything like the amateur morons arrested recently in Toronto, London and Florida, the "terror plot" will eventually be revealed to be nothing more than idiot fantasies encouraged by the usual intelligence agents.

While Muslim nations will continue be bombed by the USA + Britain, travelers are stranded all over the Western World + England's beleaguered Pakistanis can expect a new round of bogus terror raids, constant police harassment and attacks by neo-fascist skinheads, Bush and Blair can expect a solid boost for their bloodstained political parties.

The only other beneficiaries of today's insanity are the "homeland security" and private-army industries, the defense contractors and the personal-hygiene business -- having taken our corkscrews, pocket knives and fingernail clippers, airport goons are now seizing shampoo, deodorant, hair gel, toothpaste and pretty much everything else in your toiletries kit.

Not that you can even have a carry-on with your toothpaste and other essentials. As of today, British airports have banned all carry-ons.

Miserable passengers have been photographed standing around with nothing more than a clear plastic baggie holding their tickets and passports.

The alleged U.K. terror plot has been investigated for months by British intelligence + the idea that the airliner attacks were planned for today seems to be nothing more than political fabrication and media hysteria.

Tony Blair and George W. Bush even planned the terror freakout in a series of phone calls that began last Friday and continued through the weekend.

Blair + Bush put the finishing touches on their diabolical operation in a phone call early Wednesday, the Associated Press revealed today.

That's right: While millions of travelers are going through absolute hell today because of the sudden terror "news," it was last week when the U.S. president + U.K. prime minister began their cold calculations on how to get the maximum political benefit from the months-old investigation.

"U.S. President George W. Bush seized on a foiled London airline bomb plot to hammer unnamed critics he accused of having all but forgotten the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks," AFP noted this afternoon.

"Weighed down by the unpopular war in Iraq, Bush + his aides have tried to shift the national political debate from that conflict to the broader + more popular global war on terrorism ahead of

07.Nov.2006 congressional elections."
12.Aug.2006 https://rigint.blogspot.com/ In his resignation speech, Lewis said:
The most outrageous thing of all, which disturbs me most about the information which has come in to my office is not the matter of paedophiles in South Australia's parliament but what appears to be the related + organised activities of those paedophiles in high public office—that is, the judiciary, the senior ranks of human services portfolios, some police + MPs, across the nation, especially within the ranks of the Labor Party....

Paedophiles of the kind to which I am referring here are the most gracious + beguiling of people in the community + are able to manipulate the opinions of others and attract their favourable attentions more effectively than most. It is not surprising that we find them in the jobs and roles of leadership.

Their guile and cunning enable them to conceive of ways to organise their activities so that they are almost impossible to prevent, detect and prosecute.
Since the days of laundering Southeast Asian drug money through such shells as the Nugan Hand bank, Australia has been a significant hub in the global nexus of organized crime + intelligence, supporting a national class of elites whose allegiance is not to the nation state and whose morality is unbound by law. On the single occasion Australia's blind allegiance - almost literally blind, with respect to the NSA's installation at Pine Gap - was challenged, during the government of Gough Whitlam, the CIA helped engineer Whitlam's fall. Australia is that important.

12.Aug.2006 https://rigint.blogspot.com/ The mass murder never was + the unimaginable scale was imagined more than ten years ago + given the name Project Bojinka. Substitute the Pacific for the Atlantic + toss in the assassination of the Pope and the crashing of a plane into CIA headquarters for good measure + you have a thwarted operation that's earned its exclamation point.

But 2006 isn't 1995 + today citizens of the great crusader nations must be reminded, repeatedly + at the pleasure of their minders, just how vulnerable they are + therefore dependent upon the dark mills of empire that intentionally exacerbate those same vulnerabilities.
12.Aug.2006 https://rigint.blogspot.com/ Some brief thoughts on the latest mass-induced near-death experience.
The crawl on MSNBC Thursday night read Terror in the Sky: Mass Murder on an Unimaginable Scale! Well, no; and I mean no to everything.
There is no terror in the sky , unless you're Iraqi or Lebanese, or reside in northern Israel or any of the world's other free-fire zones and might expect to see death fall from it.

Or unless we can include the sky itself, churning with strange weather and unwholesome artifacts + a sun that now seems to burn an alien white. Because if we look up, we may just catch our breath.
12.Aug.2006 Terra! Terra! Terra!  The alleged U.K. terror plot has been investigated for months by British intelligence + the idea that the airliner attacks were planned for today seems to be nothing more than political fabrication and media hysteria. Booga booga!

The Nazis' organization, discipline and financial backing from wealthy industrialists, who feared Communism, soon made them a force with which to contend.

Many upper-class Germans feared loss of power and property would be a result of the newly formed democratic government, which they suspected might levy taxes in order to redistribute wealth.

The farmers, middle and laboring classes were attracted to the promise of social reform, which they believed was badly needed after the excesses and moral lassitude of the Roaring Twenties.
Powerless people responded to their ideas of national superiority and strength.

The military supported Hitler's ideas of discipline, order and increased funding through rearmament.

00.Oct.2001 Osama bin Laden, (quoted in NewsMax.com 01.Feb.2002 ) "I tell you, freedom and human rights in America are doomed. The U.S. government will lead the American people + the West in general, into an unbearable hell and a choking life."

An article in a leading Norwegian newspaper last weekend lambasted Israel and Judaism and said Israel has lost its right to exist in its present form.
Entitled "God's Chosen People," the article by author Jostein Gaarder in Aftenposten is raising a storm in Norway. Gaarder, author of the book "Sophie's World," links the Israel Defense Forces' acts in Lebanon to Jewish history and foresees the coming dismantling of the state as it exists today, with the Jews becoming refugees.
In an interview with Haaretz Gaarder said Thursday that he was misunderstood. "As John Kennedy declared in Germany 'I am a Berliner' ¬ I say now 'I am a Jew,'" he said.

He writes that the first Zionist terrorists started operating in the days of Jesus.
Speaking to Haaretz on Tuesday, a day before he stopped talking to the media, Gaarder said he was misunderstood and emphasized that he is a friend of Israel and the Jews.
"I think what Hezbollah is doing is terrible," he said, adding that he supports Israel's right to exist as a national homeland for the Jews since 1948.
Gaarder said he does not question Israel's right to exist, "but not as an apartheid state." He said he could understand how his article could be interpreted as "anti-Jewish" and admitted that if he were to rewrite it, he would change a few things.
He is aware he has hurt the Jews in Norway, he said, adding that he would make sure the article is not translated into other languages. However, Gaarder refused to retract publicly his main theme.
Aftenposten's political editor Harald Stanghelle said he saw no problem publishing Gaarder's article.
"Of course I don't agree with what he says," he said. "But an open debate on the issue is better than a covert one.
"Gaarder's voice is important in the Norwegian discourse and it was right to publish the article," he said.
Meanwhile, the furor over Gaarder's article coincides with a series of anti-Semitic incidents in Norway, including the desecration of an Oslo Synagogue and cemeteries and the assault and battery of a skullcap-wearing youngster.
