think this has the potential to be an iconic moment. It is a
distillation of almost all that is wrong with this current
administration: 1) Hypocrisy - The purported family values
party covering up an incident that probably involves an
extramarital affair, drinking + a Texas-sized pile of lies. 2)
Arrogance - Thinking that it is perfectly reasonable for this
news to be released to the public by a private citizen (a
lobbyist no less) to a rinky-dink newspaper. 3) Incompetence -
Absurd stories/statements, unjustified delays, making light of a
serious situation. Scott McClellan made every effort to portray
this as a complex matter. Details were trickling into the White
House as if the "fog of avian war" was obscuring
reality. The "Situation Room" was in full-swing and at
the ready to deploy troops to snuff out any insurgent quail! 4)
Dishonesty - The lies are numerous and obvious. 18.Feb.2006

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/metroeast/story/B194683946D4E3D98625711800231BF9?OpenDocument Historians
have recognized Cahokia Mounds as one of the most significant
sites in the world. Named a World Heritage Site by the United
Nations 23 years ago, Cahokia Mounds shares that designation with
the Great Wall of China, the pyramids of Egypt, the Taj Mahal,
the Grand Canyon and the Statue of Liberty. Historians say
there were more than 120 mounds, but only 109 locations have been
recorded. Many were altered or destroyed by farming or modern
development including housing subdivisions. About 70 mounds are
preserved within the historic site boundaries. The Cahokians,
a sub-tribe of the Illinois Indians, built mounds for various
uses. Flat-topped mounds were used as a base for ceremonial
buildings or to elevate homes of the elite. Other mounds were
used for burials of important people or to mark important
locations. Most Cahokians, however, were probably buried in
cemeteries, not mounds. 18.Feb.2006

Before
the right-wing commenters howl - there's documentation for all of
these statements. Let's take them one by one: In addition to
Cheney
and Whittington, the hunting party included Katherine Armstrong
(who was in the car at the time of the shooting: more on that
later). After lots of evasive comments that only referred to a
"third hunter," we now know her identity: Pamela
Willeford,
the US Ambassador to Switzerland.
Then
there was this Armstrong quote on MSNBC and picked up by
Firedoglake
(later
dutifully scrubbed, but preserved on Google cache): "There
may be a beer or two in there," (Armstrong) said, 'but
remember not everyone in the party was shooting.'"

The
study says: "The scientific literature has emphasized the
benefits of conscious deliberation in decision making for
hundreds of years.
"In
contrast, the notion that unconscious thought is fruitful hardly
developed beyond the status of "folk wisdom".
Reflection
But
the study found that people can think unconsciously and that for
complex decisions unconscious thought is actually superior.
The
team argued the problem with conscious thought is that the brain
can only focus on a few things at the same time, which can lead
to some aspects being given undue importance.
Lead
researcher Dr Ap Dijksterhuis said: "The take-home message
is that when you have to make a decision, the first step should
be to get all the information necessary for the decision.
"Once
you have the information, you have to decide + this is best done
with conscious thought for simple decisions, but left to
unconscious thought - to 'sleep on it' - when the decision is
complex."
Jonathan
Schooler of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver told
Science the study built on evidence that too much reflection
could be detrimental in some situations.
"What
may be really critical is to engage in [conscious] reflection but
not make decision," he added. 18.Feb.2006

only way that birdshot could have possibly penetrated into
Whittington's heart, given the minimal force impact capacity of
the shot is if he was shot from incredibly close range. This then
means that the whole event requires a greater level of scrutiny.
If they lied about the distance of the shot, its probably one of

Then
comes the delay of Sheriff Ramon Salinas III of Kenedy County
access to the Vice President from the time of the shooting at
5:30 p.m. Saturday until an interview at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
Secret
Service spokesman Eric Zahren stated that about an hour after the

interview. Saturday night at least one deputy showed up at the

but was turned away by the Secret Service, Zahren said. This sort

http://www.cannonfire.blogspot.com/ WAR
ON IRAN! It's inevitable. Here's
a good look at
what to expect... In Iran itself, the initial results might also
appear to be a "success" for the United States, but the
prospect may seem very different when Iranian forces (such as a
revitalised Revolutionary Guard) infiltrate into Iraq, seek to
sabotage oil facilities in western Gulf states + develop low-tech
methods to disrupt tanker traffic. In turn, these forms of
retaliation would be met with further air strikes by US forces;
this would result, within weeks, in the beginnings of a sustained
and complex war, one that could certainly stretch to Lebanon and
Afghanistan. Third, the report points to the near-certainty
that any attack on Iran would lead to the country setting out
quite deliberately to develop nuclear weapons as quickly as
possible, withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty
(NPT) forthwith.

That is, there is a $5.5. billion gap between our debt and the

hundreds of thousands of people with unpayable mortgages are
forced to sell or give up their homes.

today I'm asking myself: Can I understand well enough to give
better aim to the chase and ask the really hard question? Surely

18.Feb.2006
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/erde/0,1518,druck-401396,00.html Erzeugten
Waldmann: "Die These,

Dresdner-Bank-Akten besonders entsetzt habe,
jeglichem Unrechtsbewusstsein gefehlt. Zwar sei das ein
gesellschaftstypisches Phänomen gewesen, erschreckt habe es
ihn aber schon, sagt Bähr. "Da findet man immer wieder

Schließlich will man historische Sensibilität

der deutschen Bankengeschichte weiter forschen soll. 18.Feb.2006
http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,druck-401271,00.html Mit
der erheblichen historischen Bürde will die Dresdner Bank
nun offensiv umgehen.
In ihren unternehmerischen Entscheidungen
nutzen alle Beteiligten mit erschreckender Nüchternheit die
teils zynischen Geschäftsmöglichkeiten, die sich unter
dem NS-Regime boten. 18.Feb.2006
18.Feb.2006
http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/0,1518,druck-401271,00.html Kaum
in seiner Untersuchung. 18.Feb.2006

Operations (" Psyops ") is an all-embracing term

audiences, in order to create attitudes and behaviour favourable

Strategic psywar pursues long-term and mainly political

directed against the dominating political party, the government

The
second letter came from a member of the Jewish Defense League in
Rochester. His argument ran that, unlike Columbus (whom he
described as "little more than a bit player, without genuine
authority or even much of a role, in the actual process of
European civilization in the New World which his discovery made
possible"),
Himmler
was a "responsible official in a formal state policy of
exterminating an entire human group for both racial and economic
reasons," and on a scale "unparalleled in all history."
My
analogy between the two, he said, served to "diminish public
respect for the singular nature of the Jewish experience at the
hands of the Nazis,"
as
well as popular understanding of "the unique historical
significance of the Holocaust." Finally, he added,
undoubtedly as a crushing capstone to his position, "It is a
measure of your anti—semitism that you compare Himmler to
Columbus" because "Columbus was, of course, himself a
Jew."
I
must confess the last assertion struck me first + only partly
because I'd never before heard claims that Christopher Columbus
was of Jewish ethnicity. "What possible difference could
this make?" I asked in my letter of reply.
"If
Himmler himself were shown to have been of Jewish extraction,
would it then suddenly become anti—semitic to condemn him
for the genocide he perpetrated against Jews, Gypsies, Slavs +
others? Would his historical crimes then suddenly be
unmentionable or even `okay'?"
To
put it another way, I continued, "Simply because Meyer
Lansky, Dutch Schultz, Bugsey Siegel and Lepke were all Jewish
`by blood', is it a gesture of anti—semitism to refer to
them as gangsters?
Is
it your contention that an individual's Jewish ethnicity somehow
confers exemption from negative classification or criticism of
his/her conduct?
What
are you saying?" The question of Columbus' possible
Jewishness nonetheless remained intriguing, not because I held it
to be especially important in its own right, but because I was
(and am still) mystified as to why any ethnic group, especially
one which has suffered genocide, might be avid to lay claim
either to the man or to his legacy. I promised myself to
investigate the matter further. ( Read

sagte Präsidentensprecher Scott McClellan in Washington.

With a population under 2 million, Kuwait has about 120 births
per day, or 6 for each of its score of hospitals. Premature
newborns, who sometimes need incubators, account for only about
one in nine births. For hundreds of incubators, you want a hen
hatchery, not a hospital. To quell such doubts, Hillton &
Knowles PR followed up with false witnesses to the burial of the
dead babies, see

Thyssen's
complaint was not a mere product of overheated imagination. In
his memoirs, David Lloyd George, British Prime Minister and
representative at Versailles, noted how Germany and England
competed to offer a home in Palestine in exchange for Jewish
support in the closely-matched war. Germany was first to accept
the proposal and urged the deal in vain on her ally, Turkey. From
Memoirs of the Peace Conference, 1939; cited at
http://users.cyberone.com.au/myers/l-george.html
.
Many of the early Bolsheviks and Socialists, were Jewish as well.
John Cornelius, "More on the Zimmerman Telegram,:
http://www.washington-report.org/backissues/0998/9809057.html
,
notes that "Lloyd George was an attorney in Zionist employ
already at the 6th Zionist Congress in Basel in 1903."
Cornelius believes
(http://www.washington-report.org/backissues/1099/9910057.html
)
that the replacement of PM Asquith by Lloyd George was
specifically planned in order to realize the transaction,
Palestine in exchange for American entry into the war.

Dagegen
gibt es nur etwa 100.000 gewöhnliche
Pulsare. 16.Feb.2006

Deutschland.

16.Feb.2006
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401188,00.html Eventuelle
Betroffenen verringern. Derzeit bestehe keine Gefahr
für Menschen. Bei dem Grippevirus handele es sich um
eine Tierseuche, die außerordentlich schwer auf den
Menschen überspringe, machte er heute im Bayerischen
Rundfunk deutlich. In Asien seien trotz der weiten Verbreitung
der Vogelgrippe nur wenige Menschen erkrankt. In Europa seien
16.Feb.2006

Just to clarify, I was discussing the Cleveland ATC tape released
to the media in 9/01, not the CVR tape -- of which I don't
believe any has ever been released in any form.
ATC
tapes (or, more typically, their transcripts) are routinely
released as part of NTSB investigations. However, this specific
ATC tape, being so graphic, having been released so early and
helping "prove" the government's "case" by
having an Arab sounding "captain" give an announcement
after what sounded like it could have been the pilot's murder,
seemed to be a purposeful intelligence "leak".
I
was wondering your take on whether you think this tape accurately
describes what the Cleveland ATCs heard betwenn 9:35 and 9:40 EDT
on 9/11 and who you think might have been leaked this to the
press through what chain of command, if any.
I'm
also curious about your take on the meeting between the FAA &
Cleveland ATCs that took place in the aftermath of 9/11 in which
some Cleveland ATCs were reportedly threatened with disciplinary
action. 16.Feb.2006

Three-minute
discrepancy in tape Cockpit voice recording ends before Flight
93's official time of impact By WILLIAM
BUNCH bunchw@phillynews.com
THE
FINAL three minutes of hijacked United Flight 93 are still a
mystery more than a year after it crashed in western Pennsylvania
- even to grieving relatives who sought comfort in listening to
its cockpit tapes in April. A Daily News investigation has found
a roughly three-minute gap between the time the tape goes silent
- according to government-prepared transcripts - and the time
that top scientists have pinpointed for the crash.
Several
leading seismologists agree that Flight 93 crashed last Sept. 11
at 10:06:05 a.m., give or take a couple of seconds. Family
members allowed to hear the cockpit voice recorder in Princeton,
N.J., last spring were told it stopped just after 10:03. The FBI
and other agencies refused repeated requests to explain the
discrepancy. The cockpit voice recorder a roughly 30-minute tape
loop, is supposed to record the sounds inside the cockpit right
up until the moment of impact and usually does.
Aviation
experts said there could be several explanations for the gap.
They said it could mean that the FBI and other government
agencies either failed to properly synchronize the times, or
there were other problems in the retrieving or handling of the
tape from the so-called "black box" recovered from the
wreckage at Shanksville, Pa.
Or,
experts speculated, it could mean there was a major on-board
electrical failure on the plane three minutes before Flight 93
crashed, causing the recorder to quit working. 16.Feb.2006
http://www.democraticunderground.com/cgi-bin/duforum/duboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=6918&forum=DCForumID71#276 THE
"SMART" MONEY IS ON A CALIBRATION ERROR????? What?
Are
we talking about seismology here or someone setting his watch?
Do
you have ANY IDEA what you talking about here? Do you realize
that the reading was timed using four different seismic stations?
Do you really think that seismic clocks can get away with being
any less accurate than ATC clocks?
Please
put away that pipe if you are going to be working soon.
What
the three missing minutes signifies is:
1)
The time lapse between the destruction of the plane's electrical
system and the time it took for the largest piece of fuselage to
hit the ground
or
more likely
2)
a Nixonian gap. 16.Feb.2006

What
an investigator does is discover facts and then builds a theory
based on them.
Example:
In the English language link I posted he states at one point that
they are bad pilots... then later says:
"According
to the American aeronautical sources, this irregular trajectory
denotes that those who manned the Boeing were people with little
experience in the handling of these engines, against some

Anyone set up a simulation of 77? If I understand the approach to
Washington, 77 was coming in full throttle over the Potomac,
between the Pentagon and the WH at about 7000 feet. It then
dropped to ground level in a 270 turn and hit the specially
reinforced portion of the Pentagon almost (not quite) at ground
level.
I
don't pretend to be a pilot, but in the simulation I set up using
the 757 model at cruising airspeed, I think I destroyed the
airframe about 15 times before I was able to make the complete
turn....and another 15-20 times before I could get the simulation
to hit the Pentagon.
For
this pilot, who I believe was so bad that his instructor said he
had no business flying a Cessna, this ability to make the
manuever on his 1st attempt was amazing. I guess if you aren't a
CT nut, then you have to believe that this guy, on the ride of

stuff is pretty much gone. However, you are absolutely correct
that losing a transponder from time to time isn't, by itself, an
odd thing or a cause for concern (well, at least it wasn't before
9/11). 16.Feb.2006

David, I think that given enough simulator training, having a
rudimentary knowledge of the navigation systems on the aircraft,
and the excellent weather that they had, coupled with the fanatic
determination that they had, it would be possible to do what they
did.
A
long straight low approach at high speed is not a very difficult
maneuver. In fact it's pretty easy.
As
for the transponder...NO. Fighters wouldn't be scrambled upon the
ATC center losing a transponder data return. (The aircraft taget
is still visible to ATC even without the transponder on...when
shut off, data such as altitude, groundspeed, ID, etc are
lost.)It isn't terribly unusual to an air traffic controller to
lose data given the antiquated state of the system they use.

ATCs assessment Nothing is discounted. On the contrary, given
a remarkable lack of eye witness evidence to account for the
trajectory one has to make the most of whatever is available, a
task that is not then so easy.
I
wonder if the C130 was confused with the B757. I have not yet
seen any officially researched map to illustrate the supposed 270
degree turn. If the plane actually got as far as Washington (as
some versions would have it) and then had to double back to head
in from the vicinity of Arlington Village, it could only then
have gone the long way around, so to speak, to get there. There
is no other geographical possibility and the confusion is hardly
settled by this ambivalent report:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2001/09/11/national/main310721.shtml
e.g.
"...Eight minutes before the crash, at 9:30 a.m. EDT,
radar tracked the plane as it closed to within 30 miles of
Washington. Sources say the hijacked jet continued east at a high
speed toward the city, but flew several miles south of the
restricted airspace around the White House. At 9:33 the plane
crossed the Capitol Beltway and took aim on its military target.
But the jet, flying at more than 400 mph, was too fast and too
high when it neared the Pentagon at 9:35. The hijacker-pilots
were then forced to execute a difficult high-speed descending
turn. Radar shows Flight 77 did a downward spiral, turning
almost a complete circle and dropping the last 7,000 feet in
two-and-a-half minutes."
but
"At
the White House Friday, spokesman Ari Fleischer saw it a
different way. That is not the radar data that we have seen,
Fleischer said, adding, The plane was headed toward the White
House."
At
any rate the uninformed, unresolved conundrum that thus arises is
not satisfactory. 16.Feb.2006

Try this: From: http://911-strike.com/remote_skills.htm
However,
air traffic controller Danielle O'Brien, who tracked the radar
signal from Flight 77, stated that it was flown like a fighter
jet.
http://september11.natca.org/NewsArticles/DaniellOBrien.htm
"The
speed, the maneuverability, the way that he turned, we all
thought in the radar room, all of us experienced air traffic
controllers, that that was a military plane," says O'Brien.
"You don't fly a 757 in that manner. It's unsafe."
The
plane was between 12 and 14 miles away, says O'Brien, "and
it was just a countdown. Ten miles west. Nine miles west …
Our supervisor picked up our line to the White House and started
relaying to them the information, we have an unidentified very
fast-moving aircraft inbound toward your vicinity, 8 miles west."
Vice
President Cheney
was rushed to a special basement bunker. White House staff
members were told to run away from the building.
"And
it went six, five, four. And I had it in my mouth to say, three,
and all of a sudden the plane turned away. In the room, it was
almost a sense of relief. This must be a fighter. This must be
one of our guys sent in, scrambled to patrol our capital + to
protect our president + we sat back in our chairs and breathed
for just a second," says O'Brien.
But
the plane continued to turn right until it had made a 360-degree
maneuver.
"We
lost radar contact with that aircraft. And we waited. And we
waited. And your heart is just beating out of your chest waiting
to hear what's happened," says O'Brien. "And then the
Washington National controllers came over our speakers in our
room and said, 'Dulles, hold all of our inbound traffic. The
Pentagon's been hit.'" 16.Feb.2006

was one crack pilot who could make that correction and that was

My

they must have a natural ability to fly commercial airliners like
tactical fighter jets. 16.Feb.2006

the bump theory It's interesting to note that much of this
discussion is about "theories". No one has mentioned a
"theory" in the article.
The
article explains simply that someone digitally analyzed some
video footage of the plane at a university (outside the states)
and says that it is impossible that these shapes are shadows,
because a number of shots were analyzed from different angles. No
conspiracy theory is mentioned.
The
article is interesting for two reasons:
1.
No scientific examination of photos would be allowed in the
current climate at any university in the US for national security
reasons. And no mainstream American newspaper would be allowed to
publish info about the research anyway. Why?
2.
People outside the States do not consider the idea of an American
"cabal" conspiracy to be outrageous at all -
particularly in the light of attacking a country preemptively on
false pretenses. Lying seems to be quite fashionable in my
country too (the UK).
That
there should be any interest at all in something strange
underneath the aircraft means that there are widespread questions
about the official story.
I
draw your attention to this because sometimes the official
government explanations and accounts of 9/11 are a lot more
absurd than the questions the rest of the world are asking.

Take
it up with La Vanguardia, or the folks at Boeing, who say they
can't explain what it is for reasons of "national security."
What's that all about?
I
have a strong skepticism about remote control and bumps and
whatnot, but I try to look at the evidence, all the evidence from
mainstream sources + not just the parts that I personally like.
There
are a number of possible explanations. For instance, we know
Global Hawk was being tested on 727s the month before. It had in
fact been tested for years. What if the next phase was to use it
experimentally on a few real aircraft as a secret anti-hijacking
device? So the pilot would be aware of this. In this theory, Atta
and others who had trained in military bases also were aware of
this, turned the tables, and used the technology to their own
ends. Perhaps the pilots acted in strange ways that day (for
instance not sending off an emergency hijack signal) because they
thought the real events were part of a simulated hijacking. The
Raytheon employees could have been on board to observe this
exercise. It's interesting to note that when NORAD technicians
started getting word of the hijackings, they initially assumed
they were not real and part of a war game scheduled for that day
called Vigilant Guardian. That would explain why Boeing can't
talk about this for reasons of "national security" and
not some other reason, like our lawyers say we can't speak on
this matter. This is just one theoretical possibility; one can
think of others if one has an open mind.
To
completely dismiss this article out of hand and claim the bumps
were shadows when the very makers of the plane have already ruled
that out as an explanation and ridicule the idea with talk of
aliens and ganga is just being obstinate and
immature. 16.Feb.2006Video:

The GOP Won't Cover Up For Bush On Messes Like Katrina

Bush's
Post-Katrina Recovery Disaster
The
Bush administration's respones to Hurricane Katrina that even the
GOP isn't willing to cover up for them on that one.
Here's
the NY
Times story
on
the report to be issued on Wednesday by the all-Republican
committee that investigated the Bush administration's response to
Katrina:
House
Republicans plan to issue a blistering report on Wednesday that
says the Bush administration delayed the evacuation of thousands
of New Orleans residents by failing to act quickly on early
reports that the levees had broken during Hurricane Katrina. An
examination of documents shines a new light on the government
response to Hurricane Katrina. A draft of the report, to be
issued by an 11-member, all-Republican committee, says the Bush
administration was informed on the day Hurricane Katrina hit that
the levees had been breached, even though the president and other
top administration officials earlier said that they had learned
of the breach the next day. That delay was significant, the
report says, rejecting the defense given by the White House and
the Department of Homeland Security that the time it took to
recognize the breach did not significantly affect the
response. "If the levees breached and flooded a large
portion of the city, then the flooded city would have to be
completely evacuated," the draft report says. "Any
delay in confirming the breaches would result in a delay in the
post-landfall evacuation of the city." It adds that the
White House itself discounted damage reports that later proved
true. 16.Feb.2006

$7 Billion Giveaway To Big Oil Submitted

Since
the deficit is under control, I can certainly understand why the
President would want to forego $7 billion in royalties and
instead give them to the struggling
oil companies.
Here's
the NY Times covereage:
The
federal government is on the verge of one of the biggest
giveaways of oil and gas in American history, worth an estimated
$7 billion over five years. New projections, buried in the
Interior Department's just-published budget plan, anticipate that
the government will let companies pump about $65 billion worth of
oil and natural gas from federal territory over the next five
years without paying any royalties to the government. Based on
the administration figures, the government will give up more than
$7 billion in payments between now and 2011. The companies are
expected to get the largess, known as royalty relief, even though
the administration assumes that oil prices will remain above $50
a barrel throughout that period. 16.Feb.2006

Gonzales
will say that media reports about Bush's spy program are all
wrong. Then why did Cheney
ju Gonzles
had better have lots of evidence tomorrow that he's telling the
truth + not again perjuring himself, because this flatly
contradicts slews of stories based on information from
administration officials. From the Financial Times:"Contrary
to the speculation reflected in some media reporting, the
terrorist surveillance programme is not a dragnet that sucks in
all conversation and uses computer searches to pick out calls of
interest," Mr Gonzales will say in response to questions
raised by Arlen Specter, chairman of the Senate judiciary
committee. "No communications are intercepted unless first
it is determined that one end of the call is outside of the
country + professional intelligence experts have probable cause
[that is, 'reasonable grounds to believe'] that a part to the
communication is a member or agent of al-Qaeda or an affiliated
terrorist organisation." But that appears to conflict with a
detailed report in yesterday's Washington Post, based on
anonymous interviews with US intelligence officials. The report
said that only some 5,000 Americans had had their conversations
recorded or e-mails read since the programme was launched
following the September 11 terrorist attacks. However, in order
to identify those targets, hundreds of thousands of calls and
e-mails are first scanned and subject to computer filtering in
order to identify the smaller number deemed suspicious.Wait a
minute, the media got the story totally wrong, but then: 1. Bush
came out and, in response, admitted the details of the program
publicly. Why would he do that if the media got the story wrong?
All he'd have to do is say we're not doing any of that, period.
But instead he publicly admitted the real details of a super
classified program that he claims by making public serious
jeopardizes national security? 2. Even more bizarre, Cheney
this week had the following to say about the NYT's reporting on
this story:With Congress preparing to plunge into a hearing
focused exclusively on the warrantless wiretapping, Vice
President Dick Cheney
said exposing the effort has done "enormous damage to our
national security." The New York Times revealed the
program's existence in December. "It, obviously, reveals
techniques and sources and methods that are important to try to
protect," Cheney
said. "It gives information to our enemies about how we go
about collecting intelligence against them. It also raises
questions in the minds of other intelligence services about
whether or not they can work with the United States intelligence
service, with our CIA, for example, if we can't keep a
secret."But, if the NYT got the story wrong, then its
reporting revealed nothing at all. And its erroneous reporting
most certainly did not cause "enormous damage to our
national security." It can't, if it's wrong. And finally,
the NYT's "wrong" stories most certainly did not "give
information to our enemies about how we go about collecting
intelligence about against them." If anything, they gave the
enemy misinformation, if Gonzales is really going to say this
tomorrow. Then what was Cheney
smoking last week when he said this? So, did Cheney
lie last week in an effort to slam the NYT, or is Gonzales going
to lie tomorrow in an effort to deceive the public about Bush's
domestic spying program? 3. And finally, we find this out, that
all the news reports have supposedly been wrong, 6 weeks later,
on a Sunday night, the eve of congressional hearings on the
sujbect? None of those GOP Senators and Congressmen who were
briefed on the subject could have come forward in the past six
weeks and said, uh, the newspaper stories are just wrong? No,
suddenly, tonight, we find this out. I hate football, but even I
recognize a Hail Mary when I see it. 12.Feb.2006

Doing
the Math on Cheney
and His Shooting Accident Check
out what this lawyer reader who has been a bird hunter of 30
years' experience sent me in an e-mail on the improbability of
Ms. Armstrong's version (pdf) of Cheney's
shooting accident from a mathematical point of view. A snippet: I
conclude the target was within 10 or 15 yards, at most, of Dick
and possibly as close as 5 yards. My reasons for saying this are
algebraic. ...So, my best estimate is as follows: Dick nearly
blew this guy's head off. Conclusion: "I don't think I'd
hunt anything with Dick." Post Date:02/13/2006 16.Feb.2006
Cheney's
Hunting Party Companions A
reader writes in: Do you find it odd that 2 men are out hunting
with 2 women that are not their wives? Maybe this is the reason
for the WH cover up? The four in the hunting party were: Cheney,
Whittington, the divorced Katharine Armstrong and as Raw Story
wrote earlier, Pamela Willeford, the U.S. Ambassador to
Switzerland. Before you say it's sleazy to ask this, think about
what the press would be reporting if it were John Kerry instead
of Dick Cheney.

16.Feb.2006
http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/politik/0,1518,druck-401014,00.html Gary

http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/politik/0,1518,druck-401014,00.html Jetzt

16.Feb.2006

http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401091,00.html FLI-Sprecherin
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401091,00.html Da
Vogelforscher Franz Bairlein.16.Feb.2006
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401091,00.html Vordringlich
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401091,00.html FLI-Sprecherin
das Virus her?"
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401091,00.html Da
http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/mensch/0,1518,druck-401091,00.html

Third,
Brad Friedman has done some serious inquiry into just what all
the delays might
have meant, even beyond the drinking potential. He points out
that there may have been some real concerns that Mr. Whittington
might not make it, in which case, they may have considered a
cover-up that allowed for Bush to maintain plausible deniability
(god, how I despise that phrase). Brad notes that if Mr.
Whittington were to die from these wounds, our VP would then be
involved in one count of manslaughter or negligent homicide. With
all due respect to Mr. Whittington, I suppose that actually is as
"trivial" as Ms. Armstrong tried to present this, when
we compare it to tens of thousands of counts of intentional
homicide.15.Feb.2006

of course, there is the small matter of the heart attack. This

such as how could a pellet penetrate that deeply from 30 yards

hospital informed the WH about this mid-morning today + Scottie
did not mention
it to the press,
instead insisting we all move on from this to more, er, pressing
matters?15.Feb.2006

Can we fairly use the term "hunting" to describe
whatever the hell it was that these people were trying to do? I
have no problem with real hunting, but when a chauffeur drives
you to a spot on a private ranch where flunkies release
clipped-wing quails bred in a pen, you are engaged in a whole
'nother activity. If you call that "sport," then you
might as well call an abattoir a stadium.
